2. In c:\documents and settings\your username
will be a folder called "favorites", just copy that folder to a drive you won't be reformatting. All your favorites are in that "favorites" folder.

4. But you can use the "File and settings transfer wizard"
Under Accesories\system tools I've used it for 6 different people and I've only had one shortcut that wasn't carried over. It really does work, unlike so many other MS products!

5. Hopefully you have a cd burner?
The largest backup I've seen was still less than 500 megs for all files etc. But your milage may vary.

8. When you use the wizard it will ask you where you want to store them
So there has to be an external drive, or a secondary drive available. Are you still there Horse, or does everyone have me on "ignore"?

Hugs! Of course not. Was saving Pagemaker and that file is HUGE and it is slowing me down. Have to wait for that to finish before starting another.:) THanks for the input.

Unless he's got a second partition or second hard drive (which is doubtful), then he won't be able to use file transfer.
