Wow! The "One" Campaign ad just aired here in Alabama
on Nickelodeon, of all channels. Forgive me if this has been posted and discussed to death here. If there is another thread discussing it, please point me to it.

If not, check out the website for this campaign against global aids and extreme poverty. I think Bono was the driving force that got this started (I just scanned the site). The tv ad I just saw was striking, very simple black and white background with lots of very well-known political and entertainment figures speaking for action. More info (including a link to the ad) here:

1. I've been wondering about that myself
and am not sure I can get behind anything with Pat Robertson in it.

3. I may be a hopeless optimist
but I am always inspired when I see a group or campaign that actually seems to transcend partisanship and differences in culture, religion or background in order to build on common ground for common good.

I'm a sucker for that. It seems so rare these days!!

I understand where you are coming from. I'm no Pat Robertson fan, but I'm a big Bob Geldof fan (more of his activism than his music), so this intrigued me. What in the world could these two agree on? I'm glad I read further.

I have a lot of respect for the groups who worked together to found this campaign, many of which I've had the chance to work with during many years overseas and back home in nonprofit circles. According to the website, these groups include Bread for the World, CARE, DATA, International Medical Corps, International Rescue Committee, Mercy Corps, Oxfam America, Plan USA, Save the Children US, World Concern, and World Vision. The campaign also and works closely with the National Basketball Association, Rock the Vote, and the Millennium Campaign.
