Edited on Sat Apr-09-05 08:39 PM by Bluebear
Here we go again, folks. Lest you thought this "Cult of Life" crowd was going away with Mrs. Schiavo, they have now moved on. Do any Google search of Mae Magouirk and see what the next National TV circus will be.

==========================
Just received telephone call (3:00 PM ET) from Ken Mullinax, nephew of Mae.

Terri saves another life!

Followed by this email:
THANKS TO THE SUPPORT OF ALL OF THE FRIENDS OF TERRI, MY AUNT MAE MAGOUIRK HAS BEEN AIR LIFTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA-BIRMINGHAM MEDICAL CENTER ... and receiving IV fluids, nourishment and some of the finest medical care available in the United States! Praise be the name of the Lord GOD... Thanks to Terri's friends... It would NEVER ever have been possible without bloggers who love life , and the truth!! I am racing from my home to UAB now and will type a detailed update after I see my Aunt Mae! Thanks guys, your calls, emails, blogs and prayers did it ALL!!! I so love you guys!!!!!!!!!! Ken Mullinax, nephew of Mae

-End email

IT IS NOT OVER YET - THE OPPOSITION IS STILL TRYING TO GET HER BACK TO THE HOSPICE - SO KEEP FIGHTING BLOGGERS AND READERS!

1. Excuse me on this but if the facts as stated are correct
then this woman is, in fact, being murdered.

Being 81, even with a serious heart ailment, is not really a good enough reason to be euthanised. If the ailment is serious enough that an operation might indeed lead to her death, go for it. Putting her under because it seems the best course of action is, indeed, one of those slippery slopes people just love to warn about.

Except in this case it may be just that.

I'll be watching this one with interest. After all, I have a heart condition and even though I'm only 60 I'm sure there are people who would gladly pull the plug if given the chance.

2. I will be watching with interest too, Mike
From their blog:

"Euthanasia is being promoted by these Hospices. There must be stricter criteria for these facilities to commit patients. The 'right to die' factions in America are using the Hospices as willing participants in their bid to promote euthanasia. It has to stop! This woman had a will! She was not dying, yet her Granddaughter used the courts to validate her agenda just as Michael Schiavo did. I want to know what the motivation is for Beth Gaddy to kill her grandmother! There has to be a motive, why else would anyone chose to murder their loved one?"

If they keep tying this to Schiavo when the circumstances are quite different I don't think they are helping their cause any.

3. It goes both ways
Those who sanctified Michael also did no favors. This is why I think that either there should be a living will, or literally no hope whatsoever before we permit things like removal of feeding tubes.

4. This case seems totally different
Again, if the facts are as stated, she has a living will that would seem to call for her not to be denied care unless she is comatose or vegetative, and she is neither. She is old and sick, but has not indicated she wants to die. If these facts are correct, she should be given care. Period. I'm comfortable with denying care if it is the patient's wish - but only then. Old age and glaucoma/heart disease gives no relative the right to decide against the person's will that their life has no value. This is an entirely different situation than Terri Shiavo's, and as much as it pains me to ever agree with the FReepers, on this one I would.

6. Not surprised really
They're desperate to get their poll numbers up. This one won't get any MSM coverage because Congress isn't on it.

7. Not yet, anyway.
Bloggers from the Schiavo case heated up the Internet and swamped the judge's phones and computer with what he said are wildly false charges.

“I've even been accused several times of murder and I've had, I would say, close to a hundred e-mails,” Boyd said.

The CEO of the West Georgia Health System told 11Alive News, "No patient at our hospice is denied food or water."

Judge Boyd called Mullinax's charges completely false and said all relatives agreed to let three doctors decide what was next for Magouirk. He said that everyone was happy with the compromise.

8. A bit more than sketchy
The conversation between this Ken and Glen Beck are glaring. A real hospice that says "Oops, we were wrong, no medical power of attorney only financial" come on. If, and it's a big if, this is in fact the case, this place is run by a bunch of complete idiots. Do you honestly think that medical staff and their attorney didn't notice there was no medical power of attorney then freely admited it to this nephew? If so we should wait for the lawsuit because they basically said "hey we are so incompitent we just admited to you that we are stupid and in the process almost killed your aunt". I don't buy it. There's more to this story. And what you hear on Glen Beck I'm quite certian doesn't even come close.
