Company sends out Social Security numbers *on postcards*
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/04/09/BUG9EC5HG81.DTL

People's Social Security numbers are leaking out so easily these days, consumers might be wondering why big companies don't just print them on postcards and send them through the mail for anyone to see.

Sitting down? That's exactly what's happened.

New Jersey's Automatic Data Processing, which provides corporate payroll and benefits services, printed the Social Security numbers of hundreds of workers on postcards it mailed out a couple of weeks ago.

The cards, describing how benefits info could be accessed online, were sent to more than 1,000 employees of Adecco Employment Services, a human resources conglomerate with offices worldwide, including the Bay Area.

1. I love this part
ADP's Larkin said Adecco workers will need to discuss the matter with their employer.

Adecco's Mitchell said the company's workers will need to discuss the matter with ADP.

3. Corporate tennis,
is when they bounce you between two offices
in separate buildings,
as opposed to corporate golf
where they send you and your complaint through 18 offices
on your way out of the one building.

2. Brilliant!

The company I work for looked at using ADP at one point. Glad we didn't. They seemed like buzzword-laden corporate knobs, if you want my opinion...

4. Gotta love bullshit-spewing salespeople.
Unbelievable, the stupidity of it all.

5. Their salespeople kept emitting thick clouds of Bogon particles
The Bogons seemed to be generated by a droning chant that involved a lot of acronyms.

Some of our management was in danger of falling under their spell at one point, until our company's in-house financial office staff countered with streams of focused Clueons and eventually drove the ADP salespersons from the premises.
