Jane Fonda apologizes!?
Kinda sorta...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7349099/
"NEW YORK - Jane Fonda says her 1972 visit to a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft gun site, an incident that brought her the nickname “Hanoi Jane,” was a “betrayal” of American forces and of the “country that gave me privilege.”

"when I die I'm going to heaven ..I spent my time in HELL in VN"
VN class of 69

chikenhawks partied and plotted while 58,292 died..
The NG deserter in chief once said he did'nt shoot himself in leg to avoid service..

1. She must be planning to run for office because she already apologized
years ago - long before she met and married Ted Turner, even.

Dunno why this is coming out again.

4. about 30 yrs too late......
what she did totally discredited all the liberal Hollywood types from there forward...now if Arnie wants to be a repub...that's cool, but if Martin Sheen speaks out , well, He's just one of those Hollywood wacko's. As for *, the only reason he didn't shoot himself in the leg was that he was too drunk to hit it.

11. can't agree with most of those posts,
if you were in the military during that time, it made your skin crawl, even if you were against the war , as I was....but this is a discussion board, and difference of ideas is what it's all about

6. Do you honestly believe that stigma has much to do with her?
When we know full well, that it was a charecterization spread by our political enemies that continues to this day.

People in my generation werent around for Jane Fonda and barely know what she did, we are still just as aware of the wakko celeb meme as you are.

You cant blame liberals for thier own marginalization.

21. It was used to create a stereotype.
Edited on Sat Apr-02-05 12:58 PM by K-W
If the crooks hadnt been lying and cheating in the first place we wouldnt have even been in vietnam. Then Jane Fonda makes an upopular protest move, and it's her fault with the same liars use it to further marginalize the left...

I dont think Jane Fonda going to vietnam is the story. Who the heck cares where Jane Fonda went? I think the story is that conservatives were able to marginalize a very large group of people with guilt by association.

That is the big wrong. They keep doing it. They find the the way they want to frame things, they bend and abuse the truth, and then they make thier talking point the issue. They just find wedges. Jane Fonda was a wedge. Simply getting you to have an opinion about her means the right has already won, just like simply getting you to have a strong opinion on Michael Moore.

7. When you're on a press junket, controversy helps.
Which is why she's kept silent on this subject for many years.

8. Why? She was only following orders...
Edited on Sat Apr-02-05 12:38 PM by RBHam
IMHO...Fonda's been an Operation Mockingbird plant since the early 70's - I think all of Henry's kids were psy-opped. It seems Jane Fonda's job was to embarrass and bring into disrepute the emerging Anti War movement - knowing that the "powers that be" would rehabilitate her career anyway...and history has borne that out. Jane always metamorphisizes from one incarnation to another...to anti-war activist to soft core porn star to rehabilitated Osacar-nominated actress to outspoken feminist to yoga freak to reformed Christian fundie...all while strategically marrying targets of the right (Haden, Turner) who would later lose status and power...

NEVER trusted her...and there's NO WAY the Powers That Be would have let her go to North Vietnam UNLESS they wanted her to...hell, they KILLED JFK, MLK, Malcolm X and RFK when they simply SPOKE AGAINST the War...

WHEN will people wake up????

10. When people like you wrestle some evidence out of the system.
We cant just believe every good story. Find some concrete evidence. All youve got now is a weak circumstantial case.

20. When was I threatned exactly?
I answered your question. People will believe that analysis when there is more than just a weak circumstantial case.

I am more than open to believing it, I just need evidence, thats all.

22. There is plenty of evidence for MK Ultra...
Do a google...

I'm just SAYING that Fonda's career fits the profile.

Short of a death bed confession or the National security archives being downloaded by a hacker - don't expect much more.

17. Um, I think the CIA killed John Lennon...
They have a history of using unfortunate psy-op victims - who are then routinely convicted on the "insanity" plea and allowed to live out their lives in peace and quiet for their service to the machine.

25. Nice ! Hinckley and bushco are pals from Houston Millionaires club..
Funny how Ronnie R. took some lead then bush sr. slowly whispers policy..The rise of the bush dynasty at the expense of the citizens and of course the Kennedy dynasty{A much more gentile dynasty}

Bushfamily has been in office since 1958 or so...and their connections to govt go back to 1901 with Sam bush and war dept.

Long history of war profiteering.Prestraitor get investigated bu Congress in 1942 then becomes CT se. in 1952..

ONLY IN BUSHVEKIA..
Bush has no right to sell the USA to international corporats..

18. Leno had a pretty good joke about this
said, Fonda didn't regret meeting with the Vietnamese, but she did regret being pictured at the antiaircraft site, but what she regretted the most was shooting down John McCain's plane. She realizes now that was wrong.
