today he's commenting on the terri case.

they used him yesterday too.

his 'left behind' series of books promote the end times hysteria and rapture, and taken on cult status.

7. I tried to read that first book
and had to drop it on the floor. I am a liberal, a Christian and born-again, but I agree that this guy may very well be one of the false prophets foretold. And making bunches of money on it is just sick!

13. I too am a born-again liberal Christian
and I have not been able to get myself to read the Left Behind books. I hear they're poorly-written, for one thing. When my mom died a couple of years ago, I gave all her LB books to a local thrift store. But I know lots of fundies who think the "moment is at hand" and every prophecy that had to be fulfilled before the rapture has been. Pardon me, but what a crock. I personally don't believe in the rapture (thought I once did) and I think my fellow Christians who do have been fooled and manipulated by LaHaye and his ilk as they bend and twist scripture so much that I agree with you--they could well be called false prophets. LaHaye himself says that the rapture will happen within the next 40-80 years. Could have something to do with this five-book deal (or whatever) that he's just signed with his publisher? Maybe I'm just too cynical...

18. He's rehashing Hal Lindsey....
Except Hal is mostly orthodox otherwise...LaHaystack gets funding from self-proclaimed Messiah v2.0 Sun Myung (should be launched to the) Moon (and left there). Anyone who truly believed in Jesus Christ would have *nothing* to do with Moon. And yet most mainstream Christian pastors just brush it all aside it seems...truly frightening.

Then again, it baffles me how rapturism and dispensationalism, theological constructs with their genesis in a lunatic fringe English cult, could become the predominant eschatological view within American evangelicalism. I used to hold those views until I researched things on my own. So calls the voice of the rapture-snake...

9. CNN has reached an all time low.
They have about as much credibility as "The National Enquirer" anymore.

Next, CNN will probably be reporting on the Enquirers head line news. You know, the ones that have the devils face in the clouds with Jesus standing behind giving him an "atomic wedgie".

I saw the movie BTW. A fundie friend invited me for dinner, and made me watch it. When it was over and I was getting grilled, I calmly asked him, Well, if you get raptured, can I have your pick-up truck?

12. This is WHY...
I ONLY watch NewsNight, Lou Dobbs depending on topics, and Wolf Blitzer ONLY on SUNDAY. Everything else there now is pure CRAP. Although one HAS to wonder of CNN gives "starring roles" to the Taliban so the REST of teh public can see how whacked and cultish they r.

21. Checkout Anderson Cooper on CNN
and rethink the Wolf. Ole shit head blitzer has been a loyal bush propagandist for quite a while. He was especially vulger during the Democratic national convention.

His commentary would go like this:

Gee steve, did you just hear what that democratic asshole just said? I sure did Wolf, that just goes to show you how low those democratic pricks will go. As I have said steve, if a democrats lips are moving, then he is lying.

and so on till the vomit hits the floor.

Welcome to DU by the way.

But check it out, blitzer really is an a-hole.

14. I refuse to believe someone who thinks end times are coming soon ...
... all the while amassing an incredible fortune in terms of material goods and personal fortune.

The truth is, anyone who wants to con the gullible, if they write well enough, can author the same kind of book. You just have to be lower than a serpent's belly to be able to pull off that kind of con job.

15. An those Left Behind books are so badly written.
It's an embarrassment. I had to stomach through a bit of one written for teens, when my husband's ex wife bought one for his 10 year old daughter. We refused to let her read it until we checked it out... and.. she never did read it. Badly written, violent, scary, preachy, stupid. Some of the worst stuff you've ever read. But.. the guy had $$$$ backing to get them published.

I agree, the guys a multi millionaire.. and he sells all things related to those nasty books. It's disgusting, and he's damn sure that the end times aren't here. He's just raking in the dough from the unsophisticated.

Here is the thread I started. I will now post in this thread to avoid confusion.

I can't watch American news anymore. They are really trying to turn this place into a Taliban wet dream.

CNN has this nut job on and is giving him credibility having him rant on the TS case. This whole fabricated story is a fundie cirlce jerk and the media is trying to pass it off as a real issue and paint America as a fundie ruled bannana republic.

Making peace with Jesus. Tim is the leader of a death cult, that is about the only thing that qualifies him to speak on the subject, and only then as a target of ridicule.

19. And his wifie has offered condolences to the Schindlers
There are simply not words to express our profound sorrow for the Schindler family, and the anguish they have experienced while watching Terri die such an excruciating death,” said Mrs. Beverly LaHaye, CWA’s Founder and Chairman. “We know that God will be faithful to comfort Terri’s parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, and her siblings, Bobby and Suzanne, during this difficult time.”

We are deeply saddened that the Schindler family found the life of their daughter in the hands of a merciless judicial system. Terri Schiavo’s battle to live will not be forgotten."

Rev. Tim & Bev met at Bob Jones University. She started Concerned Women For America to fight the ERA & now uses it to push the latest fake "Christian" talking points. Read about the Dominionists & Christian Reconstructionists to learn more about the LaHayes.

Glad I never watch CNN; using Tim LaHaye is beyond idiotic.
