On Nader and the Greens - he (they) have cost us to many elections, by taking votes from the Dem candidates - I'm beginning to think Nader is a closet Repuke.

18. good thing the Dems
are doing such an awesome job, you know "class Action" & "bankruptcy" legislation and all. 'Bout time they stopped stalling on the destruction of that stupid wildlife refuge too! But I was particularly reassured when they rubber-stamped all of Bush's top Nazi appointments! Now that rocked!!
(hey, I tried!)

23. Should The Democratic Party Run A Republican Ticket For President?
Edited on Tue Mar-29-05 02:17 PM by Itsthetruth
I'm afraid that some would actually welcome that in 2008.

More than a few self-described liberals were advocating that a "conservative" Republican, John McCain, be run as the Democratic Party candidate for Vice-President in the 2004 election.

Their excitement at that prospect was almost bizarre. Why, if McCain had agreed to their proposal and if they could have also found a "liberal" Republican Senator to be McCain's running mate for President, the Democratic Party could have run a straight Republican ticket!

And you know what? If that had happened I bet more than a few people here would have applauded and worked hard for that "dream ticket". Most progressives would have considered it the "nightmare ticket".

Now Hillary is running as fast as she can in her sprint to the right. But carefully, so she doesn't lose her total base. Before long she may pass up John McCain in that foot race to the right! Hillary is galloping so fast that some Republican leaders are afraid she might outflank them from the right in 2008. Now I have to admit, that takes some doing!

Here's the latest on the "sometimes liberal" Lady Hillary:

TimesOnline
March 27, 2005

Hillary opens up morality war on violent video games
John Harlow in Los Angeles and Sarah Baxter in New York

Clinton, who is expected to seek the Democrats’ presidential nomination in 2008, has teamed up with two archconservative Republican senators, Rick Santorum and Sam Brownback. They want President George W Bush and Congress to launch a $90m (£48m) investigation of the impact of electronic media on children’s “cognitive, social, emotional and physical development”.

Clinton has been declaring her shared values with Republicans on issues as diverse as abortion and the war on terrorism. Her campaign against video game violence has alarmed right-wing opponents of her expected bid for the White House.

Dick Morris, an adviser to Bill and Hillary Clinton in their White House years, said that Hillary was following a playbook he had devised with her.

Polls undertaken for her had shown that women were perceived as better than men on issues involving children and education, while men led on foreign policy. She was “using that stereotype to help her candidacy”, Morris said, by pursuing family issues while becoming “hawkish” on defence.
