What strategy is Rove formulating right now
re: Junior spending his political capital to fly across the country and sign bogus legislation that 80% of the country disapproves of?

How will Turdblossom try to undo the damage caused by this grand public gesture that was supposed to pay big political dividends?

Possibilities:

• When T.S. finally passes on (to the relief of most people), Bush makes speech claiming responsibility that "Terri is now at peace" like the whole thing was his idea.

• Bush expresses regret about the "liberal meddling" in the Schaivo family's private business.

• Bush publicly chastises Delay for the entire fiasco and for misleading Bush into thinking he was signing emergency legislation to provide long term financial assistance to gravely wounded soldiers.

• Pretend like the whole thing never happened.

1. I vote for #1 or #4 happening.
Most likely #4 in the hopes people will forget about it sooner.

2. A combination of the last two.
With a dash of the second one, just for good measure.

Schiavo is a good distraction and he can spin the media any way he wants.
After all most are just his lapdogs anyway.

6. the strategy has been played
Getting all the rightwing groups to write and call about those godless leftwing judges imposing their will to their senators as they approach the fight over the filibustering of judicial appointments by the dems.

13. Maybe that's why they seem to be inciting violence towards
"activist judges". More shot = more Bush appointments.

7. Or five....
More people are perceived as better off dead.
And more people become comfortable with letting people go uninsured even if that means they will die.
We need to be very very careful here.

9. Use the disaster
to cement Jeb with the "base" while distancing him from the debacle. One more step of mating ritual complete. Take delay down a peg. He has done most of what he could for Bush. Now a must recede a-Lott and maybe even be the goat. There are big reasons why they don't want to take him down TOO much, but the Bush dynasty prefers a weak Congress.

Simply go silent and let the bill for the disaster go into the rest of the pile marked unpaid since the MSM will never touch them.

Scrounge up all the good stuff from the disaster since the bad consequences count much less. One good thing is the inaction of the Dems and the majority of the populace as the judges go it alone.

I like the Bush speech idea. He will dare it if there is buck in it. Look for dark intimations about the need to change the judiciary but not so far as to clearly challenge the majority of America.

Harden the need to have something "happen" early summer. The small stuff never plays well.

Plan for the manipulation of the next terror incident.

10. When You Control All The Marbles...
Edited on Mon Mar-28-05 11:37 AM by KharmaTrain
Despite all the happy-dancing around DU that there's some kinda Repugnican collapse either happening...or about to...regarding Terri Schaivo and Social Security...think again.

This regime is in "mandate" mode and are ramming leglislation through the House and Senate...simple majorities are all that's needed...that's screwing this country and marginalizing vulnerable Democrats...further dividing this party. Rove couldn't be happier with that scenario.

The sheeple have a short attention span and can always be suckered with a manufactured crisis or event that distracts from passing restrictive bankruptcy laws, drilling in ANWAR, giving another $100 billion for this immoral invasion and so on. And with a willing corporate media who knows these "events" draw ratings and profits, they stand ready to take advantage of any mess Democrats make or Rovian diversion that comes their way.

Bunnypants and his henchmen know the fundies are pissed, but they have no where else to go. They'll come running back when a straw man issue like Gay marriage or slime boats or whatever manufactured issue comes along. Plus, with 3 years out of the next election, memories of this mess will fade fast.

DeLay will walk as well...the only hope to squash this bug is the ongoing investigation in Dallas...don't expect the House ethic committee to do anything other than wrist slaps...and the corporate media always protects this gangster since he has a lot of dirt and is a major gatekeeper for these folks.

This regime will do whatever it feels...and manipulate the media. They want division and partisan fighting since divide and conquer has always been this cabal's most effective weapon.

12. Nothing 2 B done b/c VOTERGATE & GANNONGATE are on the way
The reality part that's missing is the Votergate and Gannongate are ready to explode on them. Rove can sit there and think of all the ploys he wants. HE CAN RUN, BUT HE CAN'T HIDE. The courts stood up to Jeb and when all the evidence gets displayed and the court proceedings start, they will have NO WHERE to go.

Waiting for the IMPEACHMENT WHILE THE SCANDALS KEEP UNFOLDING
