The Right is so Wrong
Edited on Mon Mar-28-05 01:13 AM by Mr Blonde
Re: The Terri Schiavo "issue." (It should only be an issue for the family, but now it's everybody's.)

The Right is dead wrong on every single scientific and legal aspect of the Terri Schiavo case. Republican politicians should be condemned and punished for turning the Schiavo/Schindler family affair into a partisan game for scoring political points. Their behavior these last few days and weeks has been so disgraceful, it's astounding. Their actions amount to simple thuggery. Not to mention the hypocrisy of nearly every major "player" who has butted his/her head into this matter.

The media is also complicit in this dirty game. They've gone along with the Rapture Republicans and continue to feed the flames. The loons protesting outside Schiavo's hospice are irrelevant. They represent a bloc to which logic and reason are never a consideration in any political or social concerns. They are consumed by their own propaganda. The aggressively un-Constitutional bully tactics by elected officials, and their collective exploitation of Terri Schiavo for political gains, are the real burning issues. Instead we get, as DU so eloquently put it, a battle between "God-fearing Republicans and the Democratic Death Machine."

I feel more disillusioned. Didn't think that was possible after November 3rd, 2004. I feel like we are headed further into the abyss. We are seeing the rise of fascism and complacence. A voting bloc of regressive conservatives driving for the erosion of our values and freedoms. Propaganda coming straight from the White House and delivered, intact, into our living rooms for our viewing pleasure. These are dark days for the soul of America.

1. Do you think the Circus would have happened if Terri was Terry?
Terry, being a gay partner of Michael. Or Michael was Michelle? I think not. I don't think DeLay would be grandstanding (before quickly exiting the whole affair when his past comes out); Bush stays on vacation; Jeb! doesn't do a damn thing; Randell finds an abortion clinic to protest.

But I do think that this was Act 1 on the assault on our Judiciary system and part of the attack on Democrats fillibustering Republican judges. But something went wrong, horrible wrong for the Republican fascists.....the American people overwhelming repudiated the attempt to politicize Terri's case. I think they weakened their case for RW judges, too. The American public is clearly reaching the saturation point with regards to Republican "values".

3. I hope you're right
Justice did prevail in this case. But I hope you're right in regards to the Republicans being repudiated. Perhaps this is the turning point? Will these creatures take their beating and learn from it? Or will they be emboldened, with Terri Schiavo serving as a new martyr? I for one think they've been dealt a huge blow here.

4. Now they're using CHILDREN!
CNN just showed a preview of upcoming stories. The big one of course, is the protestors taking their vigil to D.C. Then they showed a child (maybe 8 yrs old) with the red tape covering her mouth that states "life". The media is really starting to fire up the brimstone. It's getting more repugnant every minute.

6. Of course they are.
Their future success, nee, their very existance, is tied to pushing and promoting the Republican agenda. They must help their Republican benefactors change the public perception on the issues. They must get more people to see it the Republicasn way. That's why they'll cover 24/7 "Save Terri Schiavo" when only 50-100 people are demonstrating, but avoid exposing the public to events where 50-100,000 people are demonstrating against this administration and Republican policies.

They are the unindicted co-conspirators in the destruction of American democracy. And they know a growing number of Americans are waking up to this fact.
