Who is bankrolling the Shindlers re Schiavo legal fights?

.
Who is bankrolling the Shindlers (parents) re Schiavo legal fights? After all, it stands to reason that the legal bill must in the 100K by now!! Maybe higher too; it's been fifteen years of legal battles. Unreal. Completely and utterly unreal, irrational, and unconscionable!

On the other hand, the husband has been forced to defend his wife and her wishes in the courts too against the parents. What a damn waste.

How stupid can it get?

Then there's all the medical bills too. Keeping a body sustained on artificial life support mechanism isn't cheap. Who says that the taxpayers are now footing the bill? That's my guess about medical costs.

5. Ever see or read The Hunting of the President?
It's amazing...think an army of lawyers doing anything they could to convince people that up is down and right is left through any means possible, to the point of blackmail.

These people are completely devoid of any scruples. The ends justifies the means, always.

8. I've asked that to a few republicans too
and nobody has answered. I guess the people of Florida are supposed to pay. The only reason why they've gotten this far is from the law suit money since she's on medicaid and now Bush is trying to cut medicaid.

9. There are well over a dozen large, "right-to-life"
organizations constantly funneling money into this effort. There was a thread around here that came from Kos...and an article written by a fellow by the name of Jon Eisenberg, who was involved with getting 55 or more bioethicists together to file an amicus brief very early on.

I searched, but I could not find! Maybe someone else will be able to provide you with a link.

It's VERY well funded.

After googling the name "Jon Eisenberg" . . . this came up:

$4.3 million to the Philanthropy Roundtable

Team Schiavo's Deep Pockets

'Following the money' reveals that a host of right wing organizations, many of which are affiliated with the Philanthropy Roundtable -- a consortium of right wing foundations and philanthropists -- have been copiously funding the Terri Schiavo case

by Bill Berkowitz
for MediaTransparency.org

POSTED MARCH 24, 2005--

If you don't follow the ins and outs of the philanthropy scene you likely have never heard of the Philanthropy Roundtable. Jon Eisenberg, a lawyer working on the Terri Schiavo case wasn't familiar with the organization either until a few months after he filed an amicus curiae brief in the Florida Supreme Court on behalf of 55 bioethicists and a disability rights organization opposing Gov. Jeb Bush's action in trying "to overturn a court order to remove Terri's feeding tube."

Eisenberg, who appeared at a Florida State University public debate with lawyers for Gov. Bush and the Schiavo family two months after filing the suit, was curious as to whether Pat Anderson, "one of multiple attorneys who have represented" Terri's parents, Robert and Mary Schindler, and Wesley Smith and Rita Marker, "two activists whose specialty is opposing surrogate removal of life-support from comatose and persistent vegetative state patients," were doing this work on a "pro bono" basis as he was.

Through Internet searching, Eisenberg discovered that "many of the attorneys, activists and organizations working to keep Schiavo on life support all these years have been funded by members of the Philanthropy Roundtable" (website). For nearly 30 years the Roundtable has been providing a forum for right wing philanthropists who, according to the organization's website, are interested in "promot greater respect for private, voluntary approaches to individual and community betterment. . . .

" 'In the Schiavo case,' wrote one of Michael Schiavo's lawyers, Jon Eisenberg, following the money . . . leads to a consortium of conservative foundations, with $2 billion in total assets, that are funding a legal and public relations war of attrition intended to prolong Terri's life indefinitely in order to further their own faith-based cultural agendas.' 17. Mr. Schiavo got permission of the court to use Terri's malpractice
award to pay the lawyers who argued her feeding tube should be removed. She is now indigent and on Medicaid, as her malpractice award is pretty much spend.

18. Yup, the husband as guardian should seek a court order b4
.
Yup, the husband as his wife's guardian should seek a court order b4 expending any of the award monies for his wife on matters that may be outside the medical malpractice, or other PI litigation from which the money damages were awarded. And tis good that the court allowed him to go forward and expend that money on his wife's defense against all these frivolous lawsuits for approximately the last 15 years.

However, it's truly sad that all that money had to be spent in that manner. Now it's up to the taxpayers to pick up Terri Schiavo's medical costs. She's a medicaid patient, against more taxpayer fundings, both state and federal.

I wonder how much the taxpayers in FL have paid for all the litigation? court time? judges times? court employees time? I wonder how much the American taxpayers have paid due to all the federal litigation? How much did that Washington D.C. fiasco cost America? How many millions? As well as for the president's return to D.C. too . . . HOW STUPID CAN IT GET?
