Fred "God hates fags" Phelps didn't show at Ole Miss, 200 pro-gay proteste

protesters did, it was awesome! I'm sorry it took so long for me to get back to the computer, yesterday I did my democrat table on Campus. We collected money for the troops and had people sign verified voting's petition for a paper trail, the citizens against the re-instatement of the draft petition and a petition in support of HR 181 (parental consent to the new freedom commision).

Anyway about the protest, Fred Phelps came to Oxford but didn't even show, I guess the 200+ pro-gay protesters scared him away. I teared up so many times, it was beautilfu. There were all kinds of signs, mine said "God doesn't hate" and the verse Matthew 25, but others said things like "see you in hell Phelps" and "fred phelps can lick my balls!"

People wore shirts that said" I heart gay people", and "Hitler hated gays too"

My personal favorite demonstration was the 2 straight guys, dressed up like twinkies, holdin signs that said "twinkies don't discriminate"

I wish their was a picture but my stpuid fundy college newspaper sux that way and they didn't even mention the protesters in support of Mrs. Shepard, but here is a link to the article:

Over 200 show up in support for Mrs. Shepard and 0 in support for Phelpss , in Mississippi, I would never have believed it if I didn't see it myself.

was Fred Phelps. I can see no other reason for someone that rabid to be silent about a homosexual prostitute in the press corps.

a first. As long as I have lived around those people I have never heard of them backing down. If that is what happened you have my undying gratitude. They don't back down here when we counter protest but if it is happening elsewhere then something is changing. My hat is off to you and your community. :yourock:
