I GIVE UP!!!
This Terri Schiavo thing is the last straw. As much as I really didn't want to believe that people are getting stupid pills hidden in their food and water, I think now I have to wonder.

I don't consider myself extraordinarily smart, but I do understand that when someone is missing a brain that they aren't ever going to get better, or snap out of it, or respond to physical therapy, or be able ever to eat or drink anything ever again?

And what about that goon on Randi just now? Clinton lied? Oh for god's sake, like anyone who has been lied to as much as Bush has lied to him would be able to tell the difference between lies and the truth?

I really wonder if these people know how stupid they sound to the rest of the world. I'm ashamed to be an American anymore because of these stupid, flag waving freepers.

I GIVE UP!!!

1. well, obviously *Someone* hasn't been praying hard enough...
...so Terri can grow her brain back :eyes:
It's tough Cleita, it's tough...I know...science is now seen as something evil and not to be bothered with.

that Terry could be saved if all stem-cell research was funded and pursued by havesting aborted fetuses?

The immaturity level is astounding. Dying is ugly, painful and inevitable. I think some people think life goes on forever.

5. I sympathize, indeed, I do, but there is sanity left, and as long
as it exists, we have to have hope.

Most Americans on both sides of the political fence are disgusted at the politization of Ms. Schiavo's trauma, and they saw clean through the SocSec BS.

They are also turning against the Iraq invasion in droves.

It's hard to see, but the Left is winning. Just look at the lengths the RW is going to to take the focus off of them--and they are failing at it.

I understand your sentiment completely, though. But there is real hope. The tide is turning and rather quickly.

Hang in there--we'll manage through this, and we will all be better off for it.

14. You are right -
these miserable bastards are throwing up the shit faster than ever & we are refuting it even faster.

The guy on the side has to be saying "WTF???" Even CON is going to notice the blowback. Just to make sure, send daily emails to those you know who may be on the fence. It's all about finding converts in Jesusland.

9. Some people have a clear understanding of American
government, witness these two posters to tbo.com:

Sabrina Simpson, Brookesville
3/22/05 12:05:12 PM
"I disagree with the judge's ruling. Who is he to say whether they have a substantial case or not? That is just the judge's own PERSONAL opinion. I feel Ms. Shiavo has the right to live."

Sharayah Noel Walleker, Webster
3/22/05 11:52:37 AM
"Why does a judge gets to decide if she lives? She didn't do a crime. All everyone wants is for her to live. She has gone without food or water for 4 days; that to me is making her pay for somthing she didn't do. If God wanted her to die she would have died 15 years ago."

My Girlfriend: (Buying loads of Easter candy) "I wish somebody would send us an Easter basket. Gee, why doesn't anybody ever send us an Easter basket?"
Me: (with a big grin) It's probably because we don't believe in God"

I said it loud and everyone heard me. Check out girl didn't say anything and didn't make eye contact after that.

35. That's kinda interesting
considering the gentleman from Texas that was on said his wife was in a "CATHOLIC HOSPITAL" and after just a short time--like a week I think--he's told they are pulling the plug on her. He objected and was told he didn't have a say in the decision.

The poor man wasn't even given the time to come to grips with his wife's condition.

Unbelievable!!

16. Sad State of our Country
I was on a chat talking to some of these people. TRYING to explain a cerebral cortex and a cerebellum and what each part of the brain does. NOT ROCKET SCIENCE. HIGH SCHOOL BIOLOGY. I am not a medical professional. I had one woman say to me, "Please, explain it in Layman's terms". OMG. They teach, OR SHOULD, be teaching this to TEENAGERS.

You wonder why they have no CLUE?

19. The only thing that really pisses me off is the IRRESPONSIBLE media,...
,...giving way, WAY TOO MUCH space to these OBVIOUS (seriously maligned/delusional/controlling) EXTREMISTS.

These extremists must be better cornered, at minimum better exposed, as being from a small box (some call it "cult") which seeks to destroy anything and anyone outside their "box". They cannot be allowed to impede upon or diminish or burn everything that allows this country to flourish as a secular, democratic society. They MUST be contained as ALL extremists must be contained in order to protect the American values of "freedom", "equality", "justice" and "pursuit of happiness".

I do hold the corporate media responsible for sensationalizing extremists who are dividing and hurting our country.

26. I know what you mean Cleita, however I happen to know
one of Terri's aunts. We worked together at The Institutes, outside of Philadelphia, where they work with brain injured individuals. In the past 50 years the Institute for the Achievement of Human Potential has had some astounding successes. Perhaps, the most extraordinary success story of note occurred when Joe Kennedy, Sr. arrived at the Institutes completely paralyzed from a stroke and left walking only a couple of days later. In any case I worked there for a short time and I have personally seen some of the children they have treated, from all corners of the world, get well.

Terri's family would like to have the chance to try this therapy with her. That is their main motivation for their daughter!

This I can understand.

What is so INTOLERABLE is the Bush families attempts to make political gain from her story. I think that this will come back to haunt them. It's just waking everyone up to the hypocrisy of this administration.

have a cerebral cortex to work with?

32. If there was a chance, she should have it. Everyone should
but her brain has dissolved into spinal fluid. There is nothing there to bring around. If you are personally involved with someone in the family you should educate them about this so that the right thing is done, and right now this is to let her go.

28. There's only one way to 'save' Terry Schaivo
Freeze her solid, and hope that one day science can figure out how to grow a new brain. Of course, it wouldn't really be 'her' anymore. She would probably be a blank slate, like a newborn.

Good thing, too. Who would want to suddenly wake up 60 million years from now after intelligent cockroaches find your cryochamber in a glacier and thaw you out?

Do you remember that old movie where Dick Vandyke (?sp)is dead but, is propped up as a 'living' corpse in the back of the Cadillac convertible?

Sorry, the name escapes me.

Yes, I agree with all of you. Of course, without a cerebral cortex, there is VERY little hope. However, the loved ones often need to feel that they have done everything humanly possible to save their beloved. Sadly, I do understand this basic human response.
