I do think there's hope for a better (national) future
(Sorry, effmc and the other posters, I just can't try to be nice in every post. I'm trying to be optimistic in the face of much bad news.)

Bush is having is first major legislative setback with SS. He's run his little it's a crisis circus game and he's losing support. He supposedly is using his political capital (please god) and yet he's getting nowhere. The golden mantle is dimmed.

Simple thing but I just heard Jeff Greenfield, yep, give an honest and disparaging analysis of Bushies travels.

The blogs are getting more play. It's not all about taking Rather down but a more honest assessment of the role blogs are playing. I've actually heard a time or two that left wing blogs are different that the RW blogs since they are less orchestrated from the parties than the RE blogs. I look at that in two ways...Where is the Dem party? The grassroots are working.

I'm hoping DeLay will go down. Please God. If nothing else, he will have to be much more careful. I would be scared to death if I was some corporate hack recommending donating to a DeLay fund. Repubs will start distancing themselves and so will the Corps. They are not stupid.

The propaganda stuff is starting to stick. Not enough but it's starting to be a theme in the reports. That's good.

Add to this if you can.

1. Get real, civilization as we know it will be over in the next 40 years
chimp knows it, they all know it. Owning Iraq keeps the oil in our hands until it is gone, the ANWAR deal adds another few months at the most. The schedule will probably accelerate as china consumes more oil as it becomes an industrialized country. The whole mess will probably end in nuclear oil driven wars the way this is all headed under the "bush doctrine"
