80% of Alaska North Slope oil gets sold to Japan. I wonder where
the new ANWR oil will go. When the North Slope was originally opened, 95% went to Japan. This proves that there is no interest in getting the US off foreign oil except by invading other countries and making them states or protectorates. Just wait until you see the tax breaks the oil companies will get to go in there.

1. that's because there is no pipeline from ANWR to the U.S.
this whole thing is such a preposterous lie because we have to board it onto tankers that are sold into Japan, and that money is used to purchase more, guess what, FOREIGN OIL.

2. Thanks for bringing this up
When we originally drilled in Alaska (and environmental regulations were waived) it was for national security, yada yada, blah blah... but later, under Clinton, it was changed from oil that was to help supply the West Coast to just another global commodity.

The West Coast has really high oil prices now. So much for starting corporate raids at taxpayer's expense under the pretense of helping the American people. This oil, too, shall be someone's private profit after the claims of the common good have been forgotten.

7. I was very much against the North Slope and watched it for years.
Originally 95% of the oil from Alaska went to Asia. It has come down some.

3. Yes, when I mention that fact...
to folks they are stunned to hear it.

Japan pays more for Alaskan oil than America would. And the ANWAR oil will go to some country who will pay the right amount. Helping solve America's energy needs was never the point of ANWAR -- filling the wallets of oil companies was.

4. the Alaska drilling data for Anwar was "classified" as oil companies
moved away.... this oil drilling bill is more for political payback and jobs then oil and security.

5. Hell, we don't have any refineries to use the oil anyway. Why in
world do we vote to destroy God's creatures and beauty and at the same time do nothing to advance? They voted for killing off Amtrack and I just read somewhere that we haven't built a new refinery in the last 25 years and that was why gasoline is scarce in the US.

6. We haven't built any new refineries because the payback period
is too large for the refineries. In other words, Peak Oil is here, and there is not enough future oil reserves to make a profit with a new refinery.

This is from Mike Ruppert in his book.
