if not him, then who do we have left?

hillary-voted for both wars and original bankruptcy bill-part of a dlc administration that gave us nafta and gatt with no apologies, as well as the '96 telcomm bill. trying to impress the religious right lately too.

kerry-do we really need another non-campaigner?

richardson - praising bush in the mideast-kissing hannity's ass yesterday. made no effort to debunk hannity's loaded questions distorting positions of boxer, kennedy, byrd, and kucinich

forgive me if i'm not too enthused

who will be the great progressive hope?
feingold?
durbin?
or the unlikely chance of another run by dean?

2. I think Matthews is trying to make news. in the absence
of doing real news. Forgive me if I don't go tossing out a hopeful for you, but it's way too soon.

3. Chris Matthews is not worth listening to.
Watching his show is as enlightening as attending a fart contest.

4. Are people still really pining for Gore?
Gore ran just as piss poor a campaign as Kerry did. In fact I think worse. Kerry was too strident in staying on message and not letting the attacks distract him, when he NEEDED to let them rattle him so he could react.

Gore reacted to every single criticism that got thrown his way. Yes, the press exaggerated them to a ridiculous degree but to deny he did this and to deny that it had an impact on how people perceived him is naive.

Just because he suddenly rediscovered populism when he no longer had anything to lose doesn't mean he'd be a good candidate this time around. We need a fresh face.

5. My worry about gore
They will play over and over just like the dean scream. Words taken out of context when he was blasting bush from his speeches in the past few years. They will try to frame him as crazy.

Of course we could do the same thing with bush if we had control of the press.

6. they're going to do that with anyone we run
kerry proved that

the only person who knew how to out-media the cable folks was bill clinton, though i have to say i think in the FOX-ized climate of tv now, he wouldn't stand a chance, either
