Wonder what the fundies will do when the end comes, but no rapture?
I am going to have a big belly laugh at all these Rapturites when Apocolypse comes and Rapture doesn't. If I survive, it will do my heart good to know the Fundies have been introduced "up close and personal" with Karma.

Just read a great post over at Daily Kos -
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2005/3/7/133137/9822 about an article by Bill Moyers - http://www.nybooks.com/articles/17852 (Bill Moyers is worried about the Apocalypse)

3. How would they know?
If the end comes, wouldn't they have to assume that they were just not part of the rapture, not that there was no rapture? In my mind, that is a better since they would have to think that God did not consider them as good as they thought they were.

8. If all their church mates who believe that crap are still around
I think it might dawn on them, they cut their own throats. The end times won't be the endo of life although many will probably hope for death if not help it along.

6. Frankly, I think they are shocked when they die and their energy
goes back into the universe and God says," OK, you're in charge of keeping the grass growing in old Mrs. Finstien's back yard...she's worked so hard so she won't be here for a couple more years so keep that grass looking good 'cause shes one of my favorites."

9. No, even before
we get to the point of apocalypse, all our infrastructure will have crumbled to dust.

Farmland will be so saturated with weird chemicals that food crops, already the product of serious overreach by genetic engineers, will spontaneously mutate-- assuming it even grows under the full-time cloud layer, without water from the depleted aquifers. But it won't even matter because there won't be any fuel to get the stuff to market.

The book that introduced the concept of Soylent Green was nothing like the movie: soylent green was so called because it was made of soybeans and lentils, the only protein sources left. And in the book, civilization just falls apart, as cities lose their water, their power, their police presence, almost too gradually to notice, until one day there's a full scale riot when the water trucks don't show up, and that's all she wrote...

Or, in the words of that prominent sociologist T.S. Eliot:

This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
This is the way the world ends
Not with a bang, but a whimper

10. Why wait -- find out on your own.
Get all your non-fundie cooworkers to bring a duplicate extra set of clothing, wait until the fundies aren't looking, and duck out the back door, leaving your clothes all piled and crumpled in the hallways/desk chairs/etc.

Just make sure to catch the results on tape.
