10 Commadments
People keep saying: "What is religious about telling people not to steal or kill?" Nothing. But people forget about the first 4 Commandments, which are entirely religious:

ONE: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.'

TWO: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image--any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.'

THREE: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.'

FOUR: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.'

FIVE: 'Honor your father and your mother.'

SIX: 'You shall not murder.'

SEVEN: 'You shall not commit adultery.'

EIGHT: 'You shall not steal.'

NINE: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.'

TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.'

2. And how have the Right Wing violated them?
1. No other god - They think bu$h is a God
2. They worship lord bu$h
3. Using bu$h and God in the same sentence is using the lords name in vain
4. There is no such thing any longer
5. No honor for any one but thyself
6. Iraq
7. Gannon/Guckart
8. Attack on Social Security
9. Election 2004, swift boats against Kerry, Election 2000 against McCain.
10.They want your house, my house and everyone else's.

These are just few of the ways they don't practice what they preach.

3. Capitalism violates number 10, that's for sure...
The first four are in direct contradiction with the First Amendment as well.

5. "camel's nose under the tent"
I agree totally with Thom Hartman's assessment on this "issue."
"Moses Didn't Write The Constitution"
http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0303-30.htm

The theocrats have been pissed off ever since the Constitution was written and they have been trying to destroy it ever since. With every inroad they make, like "Under God" on our currency, they use these incidents as legal precedents and they use them to reconstruct history in their own image.

As an image, Jerry Falwell, et al, look pretty darn ooogly to me. ick!

9. They have the right to tattoo the commandment on their foreheads, they
have the right to spray paint them on their garage, they have the right to hire a pilot to drag them across the sky...they have the right :::novel idea here::: to post them on Church property.

What is the reason to have them posted on government, public funded property? It clearly violates the 1st ammendment. Endorcing that particular religious belief over all others.

What reason do they have for posting these on public funded property? To Pimp their beliefs and their God.

Why aren't there sane Christians, standing up for their religion? Why is their continued silence deafening to me?

12. "sane Christians"
aren't allowed on the M$M.

The not-sane see the gubment as an unparalleled vehicle to "spread the word."

7. Other than murder and theft how do they apply?
How is this the basic underpinning of our laws?

1: You shall have no other gods before me - Well we live in a country where we theoretically have religious freedom. Our basic freedom of religion in this country contradicts the first commandment.

2: You shall not make for yourself a carved image... - Does this apply to crucifixes? What about a nice little statue of a dolphin. Does that go against this commandment? Nothing to do with our laws. Probably would be protected by freedom of religion.

3: You shall not take the name of the lord your god in vain - What name? Jehovah? Christ? Doesn't matter. Freedom of Speech. Once again our laws contradict the ten commandments.

4: Remember the Sabbath Day, to keep it holy. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion. Can noone work on the sabbath? So many reasons this isn't our law.

5: Honor your father and mother - good advice. No law against it though.

6: You shall not murder - ok but this is a basic precept in any society

7: you shall not commit adultery - in the U.S. go ahead and commit adultery no punishment, other than in civil court for your divorce where you might lose your car.

8: You shall not steal - again a common societal precept

9:You shall not bear false witness - perjury. thats illegal too.

10: coveting - encouraged.

So basically it's just murder, theft, and perjury that's common.
