In the domestic arena, they criticized FDR, Truman and LBJ for spending too much of the taxpayer's money, debauching the currency, increasing taxes, causing deficits and being irresponsible, both fiscally and monetarily."
"They told the voters you couldn't trust the Democrats with the taxpayer's money...." (Sound familiar?)
SNIP..."Fast forward and listen now to current prominent Democrats.
Howard Dean, newly chosen head of the Democratic National Committee, says the Republicans can't be trusted with the taxpayer's money. Senator Feingold, a member of the Concord Coalition advocating a balanced budget, is worried about the ballooning budget deficit going out of control.
Senator Dorgan wants to strengthen oversight to reduce corruption, misspending and waste in the Bush administration's handling of war-related spending. Representative Tanner believes that the foreign debt will "explode on us" and the interest paid to foreigners now holding more than 3 trillion of the federal debt will be lost for domestic investments. All of these Democrats pound the gavel like traditional, fiscally conservative Republicans....."
Good conclusion:
"In spite of this, gloom and doom develop once the bills for deception, mischief and wars fall due.
This means that the costs for Bush's global militarism are offering the Democrats an increasing opportunity to make gains in Congress and the White House in '06 and '08, just as the Republicans did at the end of the Korean and Vietnam wars and as the Democrats did after the Gulf War...."
