Idiot judge begins to eliminate political speech from the internet....
Edited on Thu Mar-03-05 10:28 AM by ChairOne
"In just a few months, he warns, bloggers and news organizations could risk the wrath of the federal government if they improperly link to a campaign's Web site. Even forwarding a political candidate's press release to a mailing list, depending on the details, could be punished by fines.

Smith should know. He's one of the six commissioners at the Federal Election Commission, which is beginning the perilous process of extending a controversial 2002 campaign finance law to the Internet."

Basically, it's looking like anyone who's not an "acknowledged news source" can get in big trouble for linking to a bunch of stuff. Gah.

EDIT: Typo.

4. McCain Feingold rears its ugly head once again
It was a bad piece of legislation as it was conceived and it is a worse law as it is being implemented. Its unintended consequences are coming back to bite us on the ass.

5. This will not hold up in the real world
This is right up there with the French court trying to ban Google from selling things against French law. Technological realities will trump this idiot judge, as it should.
