Congratulate me - I'm officially a WalMart-free shopper!
Last week, I used up the last amount remaining on a gift card I received for Christmas.

Okay, the problem now becomes this - what I have mainly been purchasing at WalMart is toiletries (hair color, makeup, hair stuff, female products). In a lot of instances, I have saved a significant amount, as much as $2 on some items. So it's going to cost me a bit more to pull this off.

Here's my solution - I currently take my lunch to work 3 or 4 days a week, and eat out only once or twice. I've decided that it'll be well worth it to give up eating lunch out. If those poor souls that have to work at WalMart have to sacrifice, so can I!

14. Good for you
I don't shop at Walmart anymore either. My Mom may buy something but only reason is if there's no other clothing store around or something (like my grandparents town only thing good is Walmart cause they're an old country town). Here I only shop at Target and the local mall. No walmart unless it's desperate.

3. Congrats
I believe, as an American citizen, I have a duty to support my nation's economy by purchasing products that have the words "Made in USA". However, it is next to impossible to do that entirely where I live. If enough of us do it, maybe companies will bring jobs back here and support our nation's economy.

5. Good for you.

Try the Dollar Tree for some of the stuff. You can get
good products, and everythings $1.

I've been Wal-Mart free for about six months now. My
Mom had a cow and refused to go to Target with me after
that.

"They kicked out The Salvation Army." I was like whatever.

16. Why they kicked out the Salvation Army..
The reason many businesses kick out organizations such as the Salvation Army is because of a court ruling that if they let in organizations like the Salvation Army they cannot keep out Union organizers.
It is an anti-union effort on the part of businesses.

21. It was more of a way of making me go with her to WM.
She has a neurological disorder and big crowds
make her a little shaky.

But rather than come out and ask me, she plays
these little games with me.

25. It's not just anti-union
Technically, any store that allows the Salvation Army, wheelchair basketball, Knights of Columbus or whatever Good Works organization you want to name to solicit in front of their store has to allow any group to solicit in front of their store.

This means the KKK, the Nazis, PETA, Center for Science in the Public Interest, Right to Life...could walk up, set up and drive off all your customers as a public service.

Hmm...this could be entertaining...Wal-Mart allows solicitation, so obviously a group of good patriotic liberals could show up with cheap, ill-fitting suits, swastika armbands, Dubya Bush masks, and a Nazi flag on April 21 (I had to look that up) and celebrate Hitler's birthday right in front of Wal-Mart--and They Would Have To Let You Do It. It's called "going to the extreme to accomplish your goals"--dressin' up like Bush to fuck up Wal-Mart is pretty extreme.

You can get a lot of information about supporting workers at the UnionLabel org. You can receive their free Label Letter every other month.

9. Good for you.
You might want to try Costco.

But if you want to buy the toilet paper, you'll need to get a pick-up trick.

15. I do shop at
Target but I looked at buyblue's site and Walmart is a heavier contributor then Target. Plus Walmart is just awful on how they are with employee's so that's my main reason for not going there. According to buyblue Target is 17% and Walmart is 22%.

12. Good for you. I'd be too if it was feasible but it's the only groc. store
within 28 miles. When I stock up on staples (non-perishable) I make the road trip to Sav-a-Lot but can't justify the time & gas for milk, bread, eggs, produce etc. on a regular basis. There used to be a Homeland (same as Safeway) in our small town but WM ran them out of business. :grr:

than the one day don't buy anything anywhere events. And you will probably be healthier if you make you own lunch too depending on you eating habits.

18. Got a Costco membership after the election...
to do my part of support Blue companies. However, unfortunately I still have to shop at Repug contributor Winn Dixie for other items you can't get there. But I will refuse to patronage Walmart unless absolutely necessary.

The only problem is now with Winn Dixie going bankrupt, partially because of competition with Walmart, I'm worried that these exploitation superstores like Walmart and Target might be the only alternative in my area in the future and I'm not quite in the right economic bracket to be a regular shopper at alternatives like Publix, which is also a big GOP supporter at any rate.

20. You can shop sales at other stores and make up the difference
I have not shopped at WalMart in years. Instead I shop around elsewhere and buy in quantity when an item I use goes on sale at a store I patronize. Often the sale prices elsewhere meet or beat the normal Walmart prices.

I hate Wal-Mart. I hate bullies and Wal-Mart is the ultimate in corporate bullies.

By boycotting Wal-Mart you are kicking the Bentonville Bully right where it hurts them the most, right in their pocket book.

24. I think we could do with less
crap. We have become a consumer nation, if we made due with less but when we did buy things, we put care and consideration in what impact that purchase made, we would value the item more and feel rewarded that we acted in the best interest of our fellow Americans.
