Ah crap. I don't like this news.
It seems that Molson brewing and Coors are merging. This news really sucks, because now I can't drink Molson beer anymore. I have been boycotting Coors for many years now, since they don't really like Unions very much and now that they are Molson's, I have to boycott that too. Damn it! Molson's is pretty good. Ah well we all have to sacrifice something to make a point. www.molson.com for more info.

6. And they wasted no time laying off **410** people.
TENNESSEE: DENVER - Wasting no time in trying to cut costs, the fledgling Molson Coors Brewing Co. said Friday it plans to close a Tennessee plant in early 2007 in a move expected to cost 410 people their jobs.

The Memphis plant, which has a brewing capacity of 3 million barrels a year, produces Coors Light for export, plus Zima XXX, Keystone Light and Blue Moon.

"I thank the Memphis community and its leaders for their support of our company over the last 15 years," CEO Leo Kiely said in a prepared statement. "Most important, I thank our employees in Memphis for their dedication and hard work."

But he added, "The beer business today is incredibly competitive and, unfortunately, tough decisions like this one must be made to compete and grow."

7. try some Trout Slayer's
Edited on Sat Feb-12-05 08:07 PM by havocmom
Havocdad loves it and he spent several years in Austria & Bavaria where they are serious about brew. Bayern, makers of Trout Slayer, brews according to standards of Reinheitsgebot (German Law of Purity of 1516 for brewing) Course, if you aren't around Montana, might be hard to get.

A little info about the Bayern micro brewery

Don't know if they have enough employees to have union or not. They are definately local. Havocdad loves it when Trout Slayer arrives here in the eastern part of the state where most everybody thinks
variety = Bud and Bud Lite ;)

10. Bite the bullet and go for Micro Breweries.
Many good beers, just must drink less. Savor the flavor and where you spent your dollars.

13. Molson is no better than Coors.
Edited on Sat Feb-12-05 08:31 PM by SeveneightyWhoa
Both watered-down, mass-produced beer (sometimes known as "urine" or "piss water").

It's just sad that Labatt was de-Canadianized a few years ago (almost a decade ago, I believe!) -- few actually know that, and still continue to think that Labatt Blue is "Canadian" -- and now Molson, a company this nation held close to our patriotic hearts.

Oh well, we still have Sleeman, Brick, Big Rock and Moosehead.
