5. Rumsfeld before Iraq's "election':
U.S. troops in Iraq will be boosted to 150,000

The military will increase the number of troops in Iraq to 150,000, the highest level since the U.S.-led invasion began in March 2003, Pentagon officials said yesterday.

The buildup will be achieved by extending the stay of about 10,400 troops in Iraq and dispatching 1,500 more from the United States.

US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld said last week that the total number of US troops in Iraq has already been increased to 150,000 from 138,000 for the elections.

http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20041202/news_1n2troops.html

And now that they're reducing levels back to right before the "election" to @135,000-138,000, that's "SUCCESS" and "troops coming home!".

LOL! Spin Spin Spin.

Forget all about the bushCabal saying there would only be 30,000 US troops in Iraq by the summer of 2003. Memory Hole!

9. Actually.
He was misquoted. What he meant to say was that "thousands of troops will soon be coming home from Iraq once they make a stopover in Iran"

Glad I could clear that up. ;)

10. Odd timing of this announcement.
Do you suppose it's meant to take the heat off his soon to be "nonvisit" to Germany because he's afraid he'll be arrested??

12. "And they'll turn around and head RIGHT BACK!"
Yeah, that keeps the morale high, bring 'em home and get them thoroughly confused about why their wives are so stressed because they're being kicked out of their homes and living on foodstamps, then send 'em right back into the grinder....

Or was he talking about the thousands that will be coming home soon in aluminium boxes?
