Poll question: Booker T Washington vs W.E.B. Dubois
Edited on Wed Feb-02-05 03:01 PM by St. Jarvitude
I tend to believe that both men had good ideas (though Washington was a little too "lay down and take it" for my tastes sometimes...), but I believe that DuBois (who was a major force behind the NAACP) was the more important figure in history (however much he is ignored relative to Washington's fame). We just learned about both men in US History, and I thought it might be interesting to compare the two.

Booker T

Edit: because I'm a lounge monkey and I forgot how to start a serious discussion.

1. Why not compare Washington to DuBois?
I think it would make a far better conversation and be more appropriate for GD.

2. You're right
I've been spending way too much time in the Lounge :eyes:

Anyway, we just touched on these men in history class and it surprised me how uncomfortably moderate Washington was.

4. I'll respond when I get home
Right now I'm at school and I don't have much time right now... but I'll summarize by saying that Booker T. was far too eager to compromise.
