Does seeing Bush Sr. and Bill Clinton together bug anyone else?
You know, where they show them all the time on TV, side by side, in the cause for tsunami relief. I can't stand the sight of Bill next to him. I know it's for a noble cause, but it bothers me seeing Bill next to old sourpuss like they're good buddies or something. Ya know they hate each other's guts. The whole thing comes off as a big plus for the Chimp, AFAIC, because he's trying to portray what an open-minded president he is by having two former "adversaries" work together under him. Personally, I'd rather see Bill doing his own thing to help the tsunami victims. It would be way more effective without bitter puke-face George Sr at his side and it wouldn't serve to give the chimp any unnecessary political bumps for his PR campaign.

1. Bill was just made the 'UN go-to guy' on tsunami relief ...
Apparently the old Nazi has backed off and let Bill take charge.

2. I think you should get over it
I think it's a good idea to have them both - it reinforces the non-political nature of the tsunami relief effort.

3. Did you see that Bill was made the UN's envoy for tsunami relief in Asia?
Perhaps we'll get a break and start seeing him without Poppy soon!

4. No. Tsunami relief is an important cause.
And Bush the Smarter just looks pathetic next to the Big Dog--who cost him his 2nd term. (I'm not that noble.)

5. I bet it makes Bill grin so big it about cracks his face :)
After all that the GOP has put him through, the fact that bush senior even has to look civil towards him is classic, I think. He has to share a web site with Bill etc., The only thing that would be sweeter is seeing barbara bush senior having to be nice to Hillary in public!

6. There is something sinister about that image I agree, but....
...I believe Clinton is just keeping his friends close but his enemies closer. Remember, he beat the pants off Poppa Bush in 1992!

7. It reminds me that politics is a Business and they are in the same biz
You can bet Ol'Bill respects the fact that W* won the election, cause that's what the biz is all about. Re-election.

9. I agree, spanone.
The country has become one big corporation. We will soon end up like Enron if we don't change directions.

11. Yup, and that's what annoys me about the picture of them together
It's like telling us, "Hey we're all in this together and we're all the same when it comes right down to it."

You're right, spanone, the country has become one big corporation.

8. Yes, it does bug me
but for other reasons. Here are two rich men talking to the American people asking for money, what are they giving? It just bothers me that those who have ask those who have not to give.

10. Big Dawg is one of the smartest pols to come down the pike
Edited on Wed Feb-02-05 11:38 AM by EST
And what can a man do to top being the prez of the US? Why, run the UN of course. That is, a new, strengthened UN with the necessary stones to run the world.

Chimperor wants to boss the world and so does the dawg. Each is playing his best hands to accomplish that goal. Clinton is the more likely to succeed because he is smart enough to recognize the fact that chimp will probably bankrupt the US in his quest and if the timing is wrong, his base fades. If right, said bankruptcy won't matter because the supporting multinationals will have seized enough power and influence that the bitter pool of death this country will become will be of no real significance. Either way, the rest of us lose, unless the chimp can be slapped down hard enough and soon enough to avoid the world's becoming a slag heap.

It doesn't look good, but the fate of us peons, on that scale, just doesn't matter.

14. Gripe and complain about it all you want.
Politics aside, the aim is to provide the greatest amount of attention to relief efforts and pledges for the victims.

We went through a terrible disaster here in 1974. Our litte town lost several dozen to tornados. We lost several hundred homes and businesses. (Over 300 touched down that day from Ohio to Louisiana. Anyone around 40 or older should remember it.) I saw people who absolutely hated each other pitching in together to work through the rubble and carnage.

When nature causes such death, destruction, and need it's time to put away other issues and work together for the good of humanity. Politics will be here tomorrow. Many of these people won't have a tomorrow without the help of all who are able.
