Could jealousy bring down the BFEE?
How egregious do their excesses have to be before the other power brokers start to wonder. "HEY, Where the hell's MINE?" When will the media revolt? How many toes have to be stepped on before the enemies of the cartel get restive?

Sooner or later the ground will shift. The trick will be to prevent the new "kings" from trampling the people "too badly".
