Just used "personal options", turned off lounge fm "latest disc. threads"
Fun is fun, but wow, what a difference. Having the "lounge" display in "Latest Discussion Threads" is like being forced to listen to a tinny radio from an adjacent cube. I'm not a "lounge snob", but it does tend to fill up "Latest Discussion Threads". Now I'll just visit when I need some levity.

1. You are missing some fine kitty and puppy threads.
And threads complaining about GD.

2. And we all know that threads complaining about the Lounge
are far superior to threads complaining about GD right?

3. We're so sorry.
We'll try to keep our humor, amusement, and lack of seriousness to a minimum. Just. For. You.

5. Well, the humor in Lounge is already minimal.

9. Correct again!
We're all washed-up comedians, that explains the lack of humor. In fact, we tend to laugh at our lack of humor. It's a great thing actually.

6. A round for the lounge
Bless you all, but I prefer to visit and contribute on my own time.

10. Thanks - didn't realize I could do that.
When you just log on a few times a day to check for the latest news and commentary on political issues and war news, it is a real waste of time to slog through inane postings of the few,the bored, the horny, etc. These occasionally amusing but often infantile (i.e., Poll: Which do you prefer : brown sugar or white sugar? nudge, nudge, wink, wink) postings really water down the quality and impact of DU and are best off to the side.

11. Or maybe, just maybe, if you're looking just for GD:Politics
then you should go there instead of "Most Recent Posts".

12. To me "politics" covers a broad range of topics
and I value DU members' comments on them - environment, health, education, budget, state and local issues, etc. I just made the change to drop the lounge and the result is exactly what I wanted . I thank the administrators for making this option available and can only conclude there have been a lot of DUers who voiced a request for it.

13. I also thank you
But I wonder what would happen if the Lounge postings were not allowed on the first page and you were a first time visitor to DU. You couldn't see things like I'm Drunk ask me anything, or I'm Naked ask me anything you would go away thinking this is a political forum.

16. Berserker-personally responsible for defining what is/is not funny since
2005. I humbly resign from this argument, as it is apparent that you are the sole judge of what is amusing, and I have no right to continue to argue with such an omnipotent and all-knowing being...
