bush and president cheney have effectively stripped many words of their meaning and have hijacked others and made them the opposite of what they really mean. we used to call it doubletalk.

Thank you for this post. I have nominated it for the front page. Since that Suskind article came out with the "we're history's actors" quote, I've been scared out of my fucking mind. Michael Foucault and Derrida have been especially important to me, in these dark times.

What's funny is that the Republicans seem to think that their grand master plan is hearkening back to some kind of classical reality that modernism and the Enlightenment somehow stole from them. On the contrary, they're proving the hypothesis of the post-moderns and effectively stripping reality from us all.
