Who would jump ship for a Boxer indy run in '08?
I would, in a moment.

After watching Joe Biden lick Condi's rear and even John Kerry (bless his well-intentioned heart) pulling some punches, it's plain to see that nothing has changed with the Democratic Party in the last four years. Will it change in the next four?

Unlikely.

2. an interesting thought
but BB seems a dedicated Democrat, and rather than abandoning the party, it might be best to let her lead the charge, lead the way as she has been, toward making the party stronger, more confrontational, and more honest. More power to her!

3. I'd support her.
I'm well-aware that with the current state of the country, there's no chance in Hell a female Democrat could win (especially with Diebold), but I'd give her support like I gave Kucinich while I was pulling for Dean.

4. Whatever party she runs for, I'd DEFINITELY consider it!
She is SOOOO gutsy and impressive.

I agree, Kerry was majorly sucking-up. The Kerry I saw today bore no resemblence to the candidate who I voted for. Much like Bill Clinton, whose recent commercial with Poppy Bush for Tsunami relief... just made me puke, and hit the remote control...with GREAT pleasure.

I believed it 20 years ago with Geraldine Ferraro. Women are the way to go! We bear the children (who fight and die in useless wars). Like the ancient Greek play, "Lysistrata," WE have the power to stop war, and change things.

6. You havefta win a red state 'er two
and she ain't a gunna.

Look. You just have to convince some of us pink states. Clinton did.

I love Boxer, but we gotta get the ring back, first!

7. Love Barbara
Barbara Boxer is my senator, and I'd work my butt off for her in any race. But...did you listen to the call ins during the 10 minute Senate recess today? Alot of support for Barbara, but also people like the idiot woman saying Kerry needed to just quit acting like he was still running for president and get over it (!), and that he and Barbara Boxer were so far to the left liberal, no one believed them.
You're never going to recruit people like that. But I'm wondering about all the people who voted for Kerry because he was not Bush (and I'm sure there's plenty on this board). I'm thinking of sneaking up on the woman prez concept, by first running her as VP to a strong Dem male (to be determined).
I'm remembering all the blue collar guys I called on behalf of the Kerry campaign in northern Ohio. Wonderful to talk to (my personal favorite, "I'm voting for Kerry because Bush is a dick"), but a woman prez candidate from Calif. is going to be a very hard sell. What about you Clark groupies out there? Would a manly man like Clark consider Barbara as a running mate?
Just being realistic.....

11. she needs the "SPINE" award
for showing her willingness to stand up.

At the moment almost any candidate with a spine, that stands up to the GOPers or bushies* will have my vote.

14. I would too.
It could be time to have a female president. She seems to have the backbone lacking in her male counterparts.

I want a democratic party that fights back and stands up for us.

15. I wish she were better on guns.

I always hated that she supported the 1994 AWB and its renewal.

I wish she would drop the "junk guns" rhetoric, too.

16. Unfortunately, this "war on teror" will put the brakes
on a woman President for awhile, I am afraid. Not only that Boxer has no executive experience. If Senators run, they need to have at least been a governor.
I doubt she'd run as an Independent anyway.

17. I love the candid energy she has. These past two or three weeks --
-- Barbara Boxer has been a true public servant in our party.

I don't think she'll run as an independent, but maybe as a Democrat, bucking trends. She's got both brains and charisma.

Probably won't be successful in the red state demographic, but it might be very healthy for the party and the country.

18. Why wouldn't she run as a Democrat?
Edited on Wed Jan-19-05 07:50 AM by Freddie Stubbs

Unless she purposely wanted to split the anti-Republican vote I'm not sure why she would do such a thing.

19. Her party wouldn't nominate her
The party is still dominated by followers, not leaders. I'd gladly sacrifice some core issues to see a leader in the White House.

22. If she doesn't have enough support in her own party, what makes you think
she could win when the anti-GOP vote is split?

but it could be the best shot for an independent in history, depending on who the Dem candidate is

20. absolutely
First of all, I think we could certainly elect a woman.

As far as being 'too liberal', if we had a strong liberal who could articulate how liberal values improve the lives of working Americans, there's no doubt in my mind we could win. All we have to judge by are the 'gentlemen liberals' who throw a tiny bit of liberalism in with a huge load of caution, making them look weak. If we had someone tough who could re-establish the true American values that liberalism represent, we could swing the tide - especially since four more years of conservatism will leave this country broke, starving and in a state of perpetual war.

I'd work for her in a flash.

23. I'd support her for President or Vice President
She is currently in a position of strength
having won more votes than other Senators
in a progressive state and I respect that
she is putting the facts on the table.

24. After what I've seen of her, I would in an instant.
Watching her, it was almost like she stood out in a sore thumb, because NOBODY will stand up to "the powers that be." Apparently, she will. I would vote for her in an instant.
