DUers from states with Dem Senators: How would you Rate Your Senator(s)
Edited on Mon Jan-03-05 12:33 AM by Sandpiper
I'm proud to be represented by Barbara Boxer. She's unapologetically, unabashedly liberal, you always know where she stands, and she never dons the pink tutu for the creeps across the aisle.

Dianne Feinstein on the other hand has become a real disappointment. She totally sold out on the Iraq War Resolution. She voted for the damned thing, not withstanding 90% of her constituent correspondence voicing their opposition to it.

Hope that blood money her husband is making is worth it.

What about the rest of you?

1. WA. State. 2 Dem Women
Maria Cantwell - voted for the war, sorta a newby, early retired computer-industry richy-rich. Not good or jury still out.

Patty Murray - voted against war, gave a hair raising speech to define her position, normal gal, hard working mom in tennis shoes, high five for PATTY. I feel we're real lucky to have her.

Have I forgotten anything. Other WA Dems feel free to pipe up!

I have lambasted them both with letters, faxes and e-mails. Here's hoping for some good new on Thursday!

Cheers!

:hi:

3. Wisconsin
Herb Kohl--an older man, not much visibility lately; voted "nay" on the Omnibus bill though, so he seems like a good guy. He has attended Kerry rallies all year.

Russ Feingold--needs no introduction around DU! An A++++ senator! :)

4. Another Californian Sandpipe***
Representing the City of Angels :)

My rating system would find Barbara Boxer at a B+ average

Feinstein, I'd rate a D

I would have to agree Im with you on the Feinstein sell out, although Senator Boxer has contributed in some very damaging approval of legislation as well. We need someone like Barbara Boxer on the Voter fraud and she is MIA.

We need ONE senator who shouldn't even need courage, just some good ole fortified ethics.

Im a tough grader probably, but they are in a tough biz that requires some sizable ovaries***

I like Feinstein as a person, I have met her and found her to be very gracious, however I am greatly disappointed by what seems to be an alliance with the more Conservative male Democrats and Republicans, than with other Democrats, and yes, 90% of her constituents.

5. Clinton and Schumer . . .
both of whom epitomize the DLC's desire to be all things to all people . . .

Hillary is trying her damndest to find the exact, precise middle of the road in American politics . . . all she has to do is look for the white lines and the dead armadillos . . .

Chuck refers to us as the "Democrat Party" -- a term of derision coined by the right wing to imply that the party is anything but democratic . . . that should tell you all you need to know . . .

neither is what one would call a leader . . . as will be proven on January 6 . . .

7. OneBlueSky same senators and I agree with you 100%
Bush used 9/11 like a mop while these two stood by. Not a word about the promised aid, the air quality, the "trifecta" jokes, salaries for "the heroes" & so much more, before or even at the most optimum time.... during the RNC convention. Very disappointing, but I kept hoping. I don't hope anymore.

When I first started volunteering for the democratic party, I was told: "the most dangerous place in New York is between Chuck Schumer and a tv camera." Proved to be so true.

You're right about 1/6/2005, these two will play it safe as always. She's no Shirley Chisholm and he's no Paul Wellstone. Right now I'm just plain fed up with our democratic "leadership" nothing but a bunch of wimps.

6. NJ x 2; Lautenberg & Corzine
I love them both. They seem to take turns answering my letters.

I just got a great letter from Corzine about privatization of Soc. Sec. I know it's a form letter, but I agreed 100% with every word.

According to the National Review Both my Senators are in the top 10 of the most liberal Senators.

Seriously NJ is a weird state politically there are some Republicans, but they're more liberal than most Rethuglicans. And our crooked former Governor may pave the way for future Republicans to win - very frustrating. It's sad because I really liked him - but he had to employ his lover! There's more but I won't get into that here because I don't have all the facts. Unfortunately, this state has a long history of mob politics on both sides of the isle.

I've been here for a little while, I just don't post much. I hang on the Randi Rhodes message board mostly.

12. MI - we are lucky
both Dems (Stabenau and Levin), both liberals, both heavyweights. They do support the auto industry too much, but I can forgive that. Stabenau will have tough race next time ('06). Levin is likely in last term - but perhaps will be replaced by our Dem gov Granholm.

14. California. Ineffective. Both cave whenever they need to stand up
and make a case. Feinstein, I am convinced, works for Israel and not the US. Her husband scored a big contract when she voted for the Iraq war and she told people to "forget about it" after the first GOP vote theft in 2000.
