4. just heard on CNN.
Tenet, of course, is convenient for the neo-cons because they can blame him as a hang over from the Clinton Administration.

Okay, well, if the CIA screwed up, what about Ambassador Wilson? Does that make him a liar?

Does that mean the information he gave to the administration was also "lost"

Does this mean that the CIA is incompetent and should also be investigated vis a vis 9-11?

7. Common tactic here
Get an underling to take the blame.

Never works for long.

It does show it's getting to them though if they're starting to sacrifice people. :D

9. "CIA should have been more pro-active" -Tenet
CNN- could read this as a concession.

CIA taking the blame for the President.

This is fucking unbelievable.

I want to leave this sick fucking country and go live in a democracy.

Canada is looking better every day. Wouldn't it be fun to watch and laugh from across the border? Give me a nice cabin and some land in the woods right now and I'll go fishin' the rest of my days. Good god America is in trouble.

23. make that sister
And, yes, every week I wonder how I can get out of here with my two kids.

What about those CIA agents, McGovern and Berry, who have talked about Cheney over at the CIA making sure he got the right "evidence" to get his perpetual war for perpectual fascism pre-emptive invasion???

Do they now just drop off the face of the earth??

I read from someone long ago that Tenet was kept on with the CIA, most likely, because a major "operation" was in place and they wouldn't let him go until that was accomplished.

....maybe that "operation" was the invasion of Iraq, with the subsequent lowering of the standard for America to invade as the "Bush Doctrine" of pre-emptive invasion, UNHEARD OF IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES as overt policy.

If this issue is considered "settled" with Tenet's statement, then yes, it's time to go, if you can.

12. IT WON'T WASH
Sorry little spook. But it won't wash. We've got you, dude. You can try to secure your nice little Carlyle directorship, but too much has already come out.

Ackerman's piece in The New Republic
MEMO TO COLIN POWELL: You'd think that as distinguished an old soldier as Colin Powell would know that when you find yourself in a hole, you stop digging. But that's the opposite of what the secretary of state was doing in Botswana yesterday. Defending President Bush from charges that he misled the public by asserting in his January State of the Union address that Iraq was trying to procure uranium from Niger--a claim based on poor intelligence, including forged documents, that some members of the administration knew to be faulty as early as February 2002--Powell told reporters, "There was sufficient evidence floating around at that time that such a statement was not totally outrageous."

But if so, why did Powell drop the claim from his February 5 presentation to the U.N. Security Council? As Powell explained it, "After further analysis, looking at other estimates we had and other information that was coming in, it turned out that the basis upon which that statement was made didn't hold up, and we said so, and we've acknowledged it, and we've moved on."

Give this man a golden shovel. As we understand it, in early 2002 intelligence analysts at the State Department's Bureau of Intelligence and Research (INR) pored over the bits of intelligence the United States had about the Niger uranium procurements. The INR analysts never received Ambassador Joe Wilson's now-famous debriefing of his trip to Niger.

http://www.tnr.com/etc.mhtml?pid=537

That one alone will show you are a LIAR.

And the CBS story. And the Thielman story. It won't fucking wash, dude, no matter how many millions you think you have riding on it.

And that ain't hardly the end of it. All you're doing is trying to hang on a technicality: that you told them they could go with the story in the SOTU after they changed it so it credited the Brits. But guess what, dudette, we've got you on that one too. Because you advised the Brits not to go with it last fall, didn't you? So you're fucked, bub. You are simply fucked. And you are violating the number ONE rule: when you're in a hole, the first thing to do is stop digging. You just added about 15 feet the dirt and concrete that's going to be tamped down and set solid over your head.

You just try to hang on the technicality, old Good Soldier Tenet. Cuz you'll hang on it, all right. You'll hang. You'll all hang.

Where did it come from in the first place? Also, this information was used to persuade Congress.

As did a lot of conservatives.

If they listened at all to their own rhetoric about constitutional gov't and staying out of other country's affairs, they had no choice.

24. Fine, but
Tenet needs to take the fall MUCH HARDER. Put the pressure on him, make him really see and experience the full ramifications of what this means. Don't let him simply resign, bring charges. See how far he's willing to fall. This is fucking Iran-Contra all over.

George, deep in his heart, was just repeating what George at the CIA told him. You gotta take a man at his word. By the way, didn't we hear pre-war that the WH was pressuring the CIA to connect the dots?

...those of you who say it ain't over.

because my representative told us, in Oct. before the SOTU address, that Saddam did not have the capacity to make nukes, nor would he any time soon.

so, if my representative could know this, why couldn't Bush????

(my representative's statement is on tape, btw.)

Tenet's knees must be sore about know, sucking up to Dick and Bush.

"To: Dog

Tenet just fell on the sword......why?

Because it was the right thing to do. Bush depends on what info intel gives him. This man had to have signed off on the speach. Everyone does before it goes to the President.
Being a Clinton appointee, I'm shocked he's being so ....human!

29. Rat bastards discredited our intelligence apparatus
Think about it. We're supposedly facing a greater increase in terrorist threats, thanks in part to this war, so they decide to cover Bush's ass and discredit a very vital part of our national security. How will the world perceive this? How will terrorist organizations perceive this supposed weakness? Why after 911, isn't this administration communicating with our intelligence agencies? Who received Ambassador Owens-Kirkpatrick and Wilson's reports? Wouldn't that be Colin Powell? Why isn't he issuing a statement as to why he kept this information from Bush as well? I could go on but well, you see how this isn't over by a LONG SHOT.

In light of the subject of small planes, I have come to the belief that if it that were a concern on his part, then it's better that he live to fight another day.

32. What about the STATE DEPARTMENT'S footnote???
Sorry!
The evidence says Tenet's lying.

*The CIA asked the UK to drop it in 9/02

AND,

*There was a footnote in Condi's materials by the state department, talking about this possibly bogus information.

Etc. etc. etc.

Why is Tenet making himself look like an incompetent jackass?
