John Kerry for Senate Minority Leader...??

I think this is a good idea. He really is the minority leader. He got a gazillion votes form the American and he said he will continue the fight...

Hell, who else do we have that has such a voice going into the current repuke boom? We need a vocal and recognizable figure to start us off on our journey to a solid base among the American People. Seems like the right has the ability to take any name of their cabinet and make them household conversation (even if it's negative, they're still instantly recognizable) and that speaks to people. So why don't the Dems have that? People respond to "celebrity".

4. No. He really isn't the minority leader.

He's simply another Senator. Even if Harry Reid wasn't already a done deal, I wouldn't support him for that position. Not that he's not a good guy, but his forte really isn't in; that arena.

5. The reason not, I'd think is that Kerry isn't screaming bloody murder

about the 10 hour lines to vote. The merged precincts without notice. The lost absentee ballots. The glitch in NC that may require a whole state re-vote. The things the mainstream even would agree are real if they chose to report anything other than propaganda.

Kerry can still stand for those whose voter registration cards were tossed by Republicans. He could come out fighting about the politicization of the fundi churches.

I'll take another milk toast white guy, at least he hasn't disappointed me already. Kerry hasn't displayed the willingness to fight that and we'll need a fighter from here on out.

No more Daschle-esque leadership (an oxymoron if I ever heard one) for Dems. We need a Harry Truman type right now. From what I've heard of Reid, he's a step closer but still not the right man for the job.

6. Harry Reid already got the job, and Reid is best one for it

Kerry isn't really the type for that job. he can have a voice without it. senate leadership position is a lot more than being spokesperson. it involves a lot of "backroom" deal making and takes up a lot of time. harry reid is best for that position.

The Minority Leader's job in the next two years is going to be to effectively tie the Senate into knots and block the Republicans. From what I have seen and heard Reid is a good person for that job and John Kerry would not be as credible in that job among his colleagues, nor would he be likely to want to do it. Just because we know who John Kerry is and we don't know much about Harry Reid we assume that he will be ineffectual. It's most important that he is effective in his relationships with the Democratic Senators and moderate Republicans. Right now it's a tough job best suited for a workhorse, not a showhorse whose ambitions might extend beyond the Senate. That's the most important thing, not being the most charismatic, inspirational speaker or most liberal. Those are qualities I'd like to see in our potential 2008 Presidential nominees, and they're not as necessary in a Senate Minority leader.
