11. I'm new... but not an evil doer trying to infiltrate!

During the election cycle, I was working for Kerry full time. I really didn't have time to do much more than read though a bit of DU. A good friend of mine has been a member here forever and suggested I come here after the election and join in the discussions.

Oh, how I wish I could start my own thread! But, I'll pay my dues first! ;-)


I have an email list which I use to provide a free service in which I filter news to people who can no longer bear to read the papers or watch tv. I have suggested they come here to DU and join in the discussions. Eventually, after everyone has forwarded the emails to people in their email address books, there are literally thousands of people who have heard about your site. So, that may account for a few hundred new members. Hopefully they are all behaving themselves on here!

Could someone please explain the whole thing...who they are, what they do, how you recognize them? Some days everyone seems trolllish to me...some days nobody does. so i'm thinking maybe it's me.

Go . Freepers and trolls are very similar, and this dictionary is a little dated.

Most trolls can be outed in their first few posts, but occasionally people fake being a dem for several hundred posts before outing themselves.

Actually, I posted the following as my first post here earlier today but I wanted to repeat it here to (a) introduce myself, and (b) reassure anyone who's thinking that all of us new folks are "trolls" (whatever that is... but I have the impression that it and "freepers" aren't good things ;-) ... Anyway, here's what I wrote:

This is actually my first post ever to DU, and I wanted to take the moment to let you all know that I worked election protection in Hillsborough County, FL and after getting home Wedn. morning and getting in the car at the airport and turning it on to hear Kerry's concession speach, I came home and crawled into bed with my wonderful dogs and husband and I stayed there for 20 hours just despairing. See, I knew in my gut that what "they" (all the talking heads) were saying happened wasn't what really happened out there - just knew that this election had been stolen on a big, big (millions of vote) scale. When I finally crawled out of bed, I started to search the Net to see if anyone else was expressing disbelief, and I found DU for the first time through that early BlueLemur article and YOU ALL HAVE SAVED MY SANITY in the week since. THANK YOU for all of the hard work that you have done and for raising everyone's awareness about this. In the past week, I have taken much of the information you have all exposed and the many analysis you have generated and the calls to action that have been suggested and I have daily sent your information to the hundreds of people on my distribution list and I know that there are many others that have done this too. Which means that you are all having a huge, HUGE impact. So, I just wanted to say, YOU ARE WONDERFUL and YOU ARE FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT. Don't give up and please know that it is appreciated, and it WILL eventually bring the truth to light. THANK YOU!
