Traumatized Kerry supporters in Florida seek therapy

MIAMI (AFP) - Shocked supporters of defeated US presidential candidate John Kerry are seeking help from psychologists, who refer to their condition as "post-election selection trauma," it was reported. The Boca Raton News said Palm Beach, Florida trauma specialist Douglas Schooler alone has already treated 15 clients and friends with intense hypnotherapy since the Democratic candidate conceded on November 3.

"I had one friend tell me he's never been so depressed and angry in his life," Schooler said. "I observed patients threatening to leave the country or staring listlessly into space. They were emotionally paralyzed, shocked and devastated," he told the daily. "We're calling it 'post-election selection trauma' and we're working to develop a counseling program for it," said Rob Gordon, the Boca Raton-based executive director of the American Health Association.
"It's like post-traumatic stress syndrome, but it's a short-term shock rather than a childhood trauma," he told the daily.

1. Just the sort of thing one would expect...
When trust in what should be the most trustworthy is flayed from one's back.

16. Absolutely!
One of the many reasons the Kerry supporters seek therapy!

It's part of the Orwellian world in which we live.

15. Yeah ok so the facts would be
that Democrats cave under adversity. Whoohoo now there is something positive for our side.

11. Would it have helped at all if the rug hadn't been pulled out so quickly?
If some democratic leaders had stayed visible, and, if not fighting for the vote, at least acting as guiding forces?

14. Gleefully related to the press no doubt by a doc
who his happy that torte reform in in the top 10. At the dentist's office last week, with a mouth full of hardware and a drill headed my way, the dentist and the assistant were talking about how please they were with the election outcome. Didn't have any use for a ticket exclusively made up of lawyers.

I am so disgusted by the medical profession, and I work in health care.

That's priceless.

19. I've been wondering how they'll treat this problem
Since it's a justified reaction to a real, horrible situation, and most definitely not a sickness. I was sure I'd have to seek help based on how I felt on the 3rd, but I feel better now with AAR, millions of like-minded Americans and the rest of the World helping out our side.

20. I'm gonna keep saying this until it sinks in....
Abusers are characterized by a lack of empathy for others, as well as the inability to acknowledge or accept or understand the harm they inflict on their victims.

The reasons they are able to continue abusing are called "enablers." These folks, too, fail to see the real harm and damage a human does.

"If you are abused, it's your own fault."

Or: "It's all relative." ( Can I pour boiling water over your head and you pretend it doesn't burn, please?)

Or: "It's not my problem."

Or: "you're a wuss anyway."

Oh, a million reasons.

Our nation and our people are hurting. When people lie, cheat, steal, murder, oppress the poor, show no mercy to drug addicts or AIDs babies, it hurts.

But let's not talk about that.

You're all supposed to be fucking robots, 'kay?
