So... The WH Will Try Again For A Ban On Gay Marriage - Will YOU March ???
If civil rights marches are organized to oppose this move to make an amendment that will enshrine BIGOTRY in our constitution...

Will you be willing to march in support of our gay brothers and sisters against this amendment?

I WILL MARCH... PROUDLY AND LOUDLY!!!

Straight guy for Gay Marriage here.

1. They won't push the amendment ...
They'll give it lip service and then pull it out a bit before mind-terms, dust it off and see if they can use it again.

9. Why on earth do you think that?
What is there about BushCo that leads you to that conclusion?

I'd love to hear it because as far as I can tell there is no limit to what they will try in order to placate their fundie base.

Do you really buy the media crap about Bush's concern with the GOP after he leaves the White House? It's a lie, Pep, just another media lie made up by people who choose not to see the nose in front of their face.

Bush will do whatever he wants to and who is there to tell him no?

11. I really don't think he gives a shit about it one way or the other and ...
it's main use to them is exactly what they used it for in the election. To do that, they MUST keep it as an issue.

They won't let this baby go for a long, long time.

5. Yes I will march -- they have to be stopped somewhere
or they will come after the next group on their list.

Gays are the new blacks -- when will be see them marked and/or on auction blocks to be sold off as slaves. Some Christian Reconstructionists want a return to biblical slavery -- after all slavery is mentioned in the bible.

We've already seen gays tormented, murdered and now we see to so called "christians" (little "c") attempting to get hate legislation through congress. This also reminds of of the laws passed against Native Americans -- that is a damned crappy part of American history.

I just don't want to go backward in time.

7. If the WH tries it,
I will be there, marching against it. For all that it's worth. I will not let them try to write discrimination and hate into OUR constitution, which is for all of us.

8. How can we re-frame this issue? They use the term 'Gay Marriage'
and people think of sex acts. Can we re-name/re-frame it and affect public policy that is based on principles delineated in our Constitution?

The radical Christians and the radical Right don't believe in upholding our Constitution or respecting mainstream American values.

The issue is about loving your partner and making a life-long commitment, AND access to equal rights under our Constitution.

It has nothing to do with gender or sexual acts.

15. Get Real
Perhaps a true story will help:

It wasn't very many years ago one of our local city governments wanted to pass a bond issue. It was sure to be a problem getting voter approval. After contemplating various proposals, the city hired a consultant and was informed to mount NO campaign and for proponents to cease discussing it.

Sure enough, opposition failed to be prompted a promotional blitz and the bond issue passed easily.

20. Here is the point
The splash the mass weddings made in the media last spring and the rush to get marriage licenses incited the opposition.

You should anticipate images from last spring will be reproduced and used by opponents of gay marriage in 2006 & 2008.
