These are the times that try (wo)mens' souls. Don't give up!
The Republicans are going to unleash hell against us for at least the next two years.

If we crumble and let them succeed, it is our own damn fault.

In politics, nothing is permanent and everything is fluid.

They own the White House, the Congress, and the courts. They will use this power with great hubris--hubris that must be matched by our determination.

Lost in all of our despair is one simple fact: The Republican party will be completely blamed for anything that goes wrong. They can't blame 9/11 for the next economic disaster. They can't blame Bill Clinton or "pre-9/11" mindsets for the next terrorist attack. And they won't be able to invade another country to pump up the jingoists without starting a draft.

They are wrong, we are right. And nothing will prove that to the American people like watching them fuck everything up.

Our job is to minimize the damage they do and to HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE for the damage that is done.

Our biggest mistake will be to simply write off everyone who voted for Bush as a mouth-breathing idiot unworthy of being heard. Rove's coalition is much more fragile than people realize--he can't juggle them forever.

They can't hide behind "moral values" next time. Gay marriage is now off the table. Abortion will be a bad issue for the Republicans now--the fundamentalists have been loyal so that they can ban abortion.

Either the Republicans reward their loyalty, and poison their well for women voters of the future, or they will not reward their loyalty and watch the fundies stay home.

Their policies and politics will fail. We must be ready to take advantage.

1. Hopefully
I remember watching them implode during Iran/Contra. The thing is.. they are so much better at hating than we are. They divide people. I agree they won't be able to blame anyone but themselves, but who is to pay for their catastrophic mistakes? Has all we have worked for in the last century been for nothing? I can almost envision the excitement of every sexist, racist pig out there to think that Bush will put in anti-woman, anti-minority, anti-separation of church and state, pro-gun, anti-social-net justices. The thought brings bile to my throat. It is hard right now not to hurt and hate, we just aren't very good at it. And being independent thinkers makes coming together so much harder. I need a vacation to another country or something. I am tired of feeling like dogshit on the neocons shoe.

2. The key is to confront hate, not hide like it ala Terry McAuliffe.
The Democrats need to stop playing freaking defense on social issues, and instead point out how they are being used to get people to vote against their own self-interest. And, no, a single throw-away line in a stump speech won't cut it.

3. A storm is comming
Hate to think it but it just may have to get sooo much worse for the fucktards to wake up and realize they're turning up the flame on their frying pan.

I really think another 4 yrs will result in nothing short of revolution. A storm is comming....

These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives everything its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as freedom should not be highly rated.

5. Please
So they'll be blamed for everything that goes wrong, the point is that their supporters have already drunk the kool-aid, and they don't care.

We already have an economic disaster waiting to occur, and the IMF made a statement about this not that long ago, did anyone pay attention, no. Bin Laden basically said he was going to ruin this country economically by this "War on Terror", what is it going to be,
200 billion?

Don't count on Gay marriage being off the table, it's still a trump card that they can use to garner support for 2006. As for the fundies,
don't worry about Rove he knows a good thing when he sees it. The
religious wackos will get a few crumbs, maybe even a large scrap, but they will be rewarded.

Maybe not everyone who voted for Bush is a mouth breathing idiot, but most of them are. Those that are would need a lobotomy to even be considered as intelligent as a rock.

What "moral values", they make them up as they go, I mean none of the Jonestown gang can let go of Clinton and Monica, but boy did they forget about Rudy trying to move his mistress into the same house with his wife and kids. These people have no morals and they had the same values back in 2000. As for women voters, I watched one interview
with an African-American woman who admitted to voting for Bush.

So maybe some will open their eyes and see them for what they are, but by then there will be thousands of dead in Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, and perhaps another 9/11 here.

Do you really think the fundies actually care, all they want is the Apocalypse, the Rapture, they want to be caught up by God and taken to heaven to spend eternity. These are the most dangerous people we have in this country. It's like a religious version of the Nazi Party,
they have no need for earthly tresures, they truly believe that their reward will come in another life.

And about policies and politics, I believe we've already gone through that for the last 4 years, and look no failure, Bush still got re-elected.

I won't give up, but I'm not moving to Fairyland either. 58,000,000 people voted for Bush, I never realized that many lobotomized people actually lived here in the US. And now we get to stand by and watch as more American troops die for Halliburton, and more "brown skinned"
people are killed because they really want freedom, not the kind that comes from the barrel of a gun, but the kind that they know is right for them.

I will shed a tear for every troop that comes home, but for the families that voted for Bush I wish upon them pain and anguish and doubt. I want them to go to their graves asking themselves "what if".
