Democracy Has Failed in the United States
Will the last brave Democrat please turn the light out when you leave...

It is becoming clear that were are in for complete domination for at least the next 4 years. No one will stop them. Nothing will stop their agenda. How about a Supreme Court even more conservative and headed by Clarence Thomas...

The environment... gone... Social Security and social safety net... gone... Health care for anyone but the wealthy... gone.

I will still vote. And, but for my family, the country that gave me birth is dead to me. I honestly don't care at this point how it happened... Theft, or legitimate the result is the same.

Fascism, proto-fascism whatever you want to call it is here to stay.

And yes, we can contest Ohio and Florida but it's not going to change anything.

Democracy is done... the great American experiment is finished.

(end of rant)

4. I'm more ambilvalent about what happens/
If Al Queda hits us again, so be it. If the stock market tanks, so be it. If even more fuckwits in Ohio lose their jobs, so be it. We have chosen our course and we deserve whatever consequences it brings us.

We live in the most evil, murderous nation on the planet.

5. Winner take all system is failed
The republican machine is out to exterminate every democrat, not to
kill, as that would imply violence... no to "exterminate", to
attack democratic ideals, people and substance until it is gone,
and that democrats are replacing nazi germany's jews as the enemy
of the nazi-cons.

A responsible government might accept that the population of several
nations has voted democratic this last poll, and give them fair and
just representation. No, not to be, rather that population is to
be totally denied its civil rights and exterminated.

6. I can relate to that
my mellow self wants to break up a bunch of shit right now...I am soooo angry. I'm not used to being angry...it is totally foreign to me.
I love my country...I love my little space in it....I'm just so damned angry right now!
My birthday is Saturday...I think I need a special way to celebrate it this year.

7. Right about on time, too, wasn't it?
A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess of the public treasury.

From that time on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the results that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.

The average age of the world's great civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence:

from bondage to spiritual faith;

from spiritual faith to great courage;

from courage to liberty;

from liberty to abundance;

from abundance to selfishness;

from selfishness to complacency;

from complacency to apathy;

from apathy to dependency;

from dependency back again to bondage.

-- Sir Alex Fraser Tytler, 1742-1813

Seems to me if there's any chance of the cycle repeating, we're due for some "great courage."
