OBL Is a gift Horse for the Kerry Campaign
As bad as this sounds OBL rising from the grave is a remindeer of BUSH's failure's to get him.

They should play this up and make a quick ad saying he didn;t care about OBL.

1. how about this ad:
"A simple suggestion to the Kerry Camp: You guys must hit this hard in time for the weekend chatfests and to steer the focus towards the fact that this guy is still alive and quite healthy. I know that you have already shot your last round of commercials, but can them, and cut together an immediate 30-second spot for distribution in all the battleground states. It doesn't have to be anything fancy. I would suggest a 30-second spot which opens with the new tape of Osama today, and with a voice over which asks the question "Why Is This Man Still Alive?", and then a morphing into a video of Bush saying that he doesn't spend much time thinking about Osama. The commercial will close with a on camera statement from Kerry saying that "He shouldn't have been allowed to escape at Tora Bora. And invading Iraq obviously did nothing to stop him. If I'm elected president, Osama won't have much time to shoot any more videos."

Simple.

10. I think Kerry already missed a big opportunity
When I heard he was going to make a statement, before Bush announced he was going to make one, I thought...GREAT..go out there , "Who's Your Daddy???"! Look like the President and say...exactly what you said...WHY IS THIS GUY STILL ALIVE!? Instead, and I don't know the context of it, maybe he was in progress with an interview, he was in dress shirt, outdoors, made a good statement about us all being together but then went into the same thing he says in his speeches. Then was cut off on CNN becaquse Bush decided he might be an American so he should say something. I love Kerry...but someone should have jumped on it and shown him to be THE GO TO GUY! Maybe soon he'll get back on the air. I hope they play up the fact that Bush was told about the tape before an event and went on as if nothing had happened, the audience may not have even known...shades of My Pet Goat!

Plus...told my husband, how long will it take for Michael Moore to be accused of giving aid and comfort to the enemy...oh...about 10 nanno seconds from some hard Ann Coulter clone for the Repubs. My husband said why are Republican women so bitchy!?

Hate to be cold...but how do you think this will break? For or against Kerry?

17. For Kerry. The tape destroys B*sh.
Kerry doesn't need to say any more than he already has. The tape speaks for itself. It is devastating. OBL destroys B*sh Sr., B*sh Jr., AND Jeb.

2. I agree...
It's all in how the Kerry campaign uses it. * had the chance to take this asshole scum out long ago and diverted our money and forces to go let our soldiers be moving targets in Iraq.

Kerry had better remind voters that a GOOD president would have gotten OBL when we were in Afghanistan.

3. Bottom line, he's still alive
If conservatives were honest and had integrity they can not vote for bush. Imagine the odds.

4. I totally disagree
OBL ticking off Dem talking points is anything BUT a gift horse.

It is THE Rove October Surprise...book it.

7. And which talking points are those?
My Pet Goat is not a "Dem talking point".

9. it's certainly a battle cry
AND so is "if they hated us for our freedom they would have attacked Sweden."

I've heard Michael Moore say both, and they're both great statements. Now let me ask you, why in the hell would OBL be lifting Moore's quips?

This tape is totally bogus, and it appears to be totally out of character with previous OBL tapes.

It is a serious gift for * unless it can be proven to be fake. More powerful than us saying "see, Osama is still alive because Bush failed" is the image of OBL telling us we shouldn't vote for Bush, and that we shouldn't attack 'them'.

Of course Joe Sixpack is going to react completely opposite to OBL's advice. This plays directly into Bush's hands, and wow, what a coincendence that it surfaces 3 days before the election.

11. This is the Rove timing
The Bush Administration ALWAYS releases explosive stuff late on Fridays...it's perfect for the news cycle to be picked up and thumped on all weekend before anything can really be done about it or they can be blamed. i.e. they announced the 17% increase in Medicare premiums, right after the debates, late on a Friday. I've been waiting all week to see what the surprise would be today!

15. You give Rove too much credit.
He's not behind this. If he had the tapes, he would have released it two days early to get attention off of the explosives scandal.

Don't forget - he *lost* the last election for Bush. James Baker got Bush into office.

18. Have you seen the tape? It looked authentic to me.
Certainly not the nonsense we saw yesterday with the big scawy terra-ist in his basement with a hood on his head. :eyes:

This tape only needs to be seen by the public. No spin will matter once it's viewed. The KoolAid drinkers will continue to worship at their Master's feet, but the ones that matter in this election will vote Junior out of office ASAP.

14. Not IMO,Bush can spin this all he wants....
The fact is the murderer of 3,000 in NY is still alive and walking the streets. Bush claimed he's tough on terrorism and Kerry isn't. He claimed we'd search everywhere until OBL was killed and he didn't.

This is NOT good for the Bush campaign,I can't believe anyone would see this as a vote getter,it should work just the other way.

5. They should say they would have used a guy that looked more like Osama

It's a great chance to talk about lots of other related issues, like production values and scriptwriting.

This guy didn't even mention Arafat's mysterious illness ;)

12. Amen.
I dont see why so many here are spinning this for Bush. Bush is campaigning on making us safer, the week before the election the guy who attacked us says he can do it again and Bush certainly cant stop him. Meanwhile Bush is left with a war that nobody can tie to 9/11 and the guy who did it bragging about it.

How is this in any way good for Bush?
