A Question for Pennsylvania from Oregon...
I was just talking to some friends (Kerry backers) who live outside Philadelphia and they had asked for absentee ballots because they were going to be away for Nov. 2. The ballots they got had Nader's name on it. I guess Nader was later taken off the ballot and new ballots were mailed out. They can't get information from the elections office if they need to file the new ballots (without Nader's name on it) or the old ones or if it makes any difference. Any advice?

1. What county are they from?
There's a list of all the phone numbers inside the PA voter registration form. (Not the absentee ballot or ballot request form) If you or they) have got an extra registration form handy you can look for the number to call tomorrow AM. If not...tell me the county they would normally vote in and I'll post the phone number here.

3. Here it is...Montgomery County Voter Registration Office
Full address: Montgomery County Courthouse (PO BOX 311)
Norristown, PA 19404
Phone: 610 278 3280
A Philly friend went to her voter registration office this past Friday, filled out an application for a ballot on the spot...received a ballot on the spot, filled it out (voted) and left her ballot there. If it works for them, your friends might ask if they can do an in-person thing like that in Montgomery County if they can't just mail in the ballot they already have.

5. You can definitely use a PA absentee ballot with Nader on it.
Ours in Lancaster County came with a letter from the Supervisor of Elections noting the fact of Nader being on the ballot and that the matter was still up in the air, but that wouldn't effect the use of the ballot (unless one voted for Nadir of course).

6. You're probably right, Merlin.
I'm a committeeperson and I've been fielding questions from worried voters for several weeks...I give em my best guess and the number to call...but I think they'll feel better if they make the call anyway and get "official" info.

7. Hey, I just moved from Mont Co...
I don't think it matters - they should be able to use the ballots they have. But, please do call the Mont Co courthouse and double check just to be sure.

I moved to VERY conservative Berks County, and the Kerry signs ar all over the place here! You shouldn't see any Kerry signs up here, let alone more K/E than *.

PA is Kerry Country!!
