Nader Urges Bush to Grant Clemency for Non-Violent Drug Offenders
As someone who has acknowledged having a substance abuse problem you understand the importance of treatment for addiction. I’m sure you also recognize that if you had been incarcerated for cocaine use you probably would not have gone on to have the career you have had. Therefore, you should be especially sensitive to the need for correcting the injustice of incarceration for non-violent drug offenses.

1. Nader specializes
in finding tiny groups and getting their hopes up for things that will never happen.

6. Wow! People are really ignorant of the realities of addiction
Comments here showing people's ignorance towards the realities of addiction, the fact that it is a medical problem, not a criminal behavior, and towards the fact that nobody ever chooses to be addicted to drugs show why the Democratic Party is beyond saving. I'm sorry, but I can't belong to a party that throws somebody in jail for years simply for their personal decisions and resulting medical conditions.

Throwing people in jail for drug abuse is like throwing people in jail for eating McDonalds. These people are hurting themselves, but kicking a man when he's down is not the way to get him back up.

11. Comments where?
You seem to not fully understand our system.

Convince half the voters of this country that drug use should be decriminalized and they should vote on it as an issue and at least one of the parties would switch to a platform of decriminalization.

Until then you can have delusions of superiority over the democrats all you want, in our system things dont get done unless there are votes to be gotten doing it. Welcome to representitive democracy. If that is a problem for you, the problem is not the Democratic party, it is with the people and the overall system. It is not the democratic parties fault that our nation was designed this way or that people are easily scared into voting for criminalization and harsh punishments. It is not the democrats' role in our system to be ideological mavens. If you want ideological leadership, dont go to a political party in our system. Go to a political party if you want to effect legislation.

9. Nader's message is fine but, given his proclivity for accepting repub...
funding and support, is this a plea for leniency for Limbaugh? If so, I say NO!
