All this speculation is fun. I'd hate it if they came out and told us what it is actually was.

Maybe it's just his spine, and he's an alien lizard, just like David Icke says. :)

4. I don't think they would...
have shrub out there like he has been ( at times very heated and stressed out) if his condition was so bad he needed a defibrillator.

7. But Cheney is 'out there' and he has an implanted defib.
this device is a intermediate measure before getting an implanted device

9. Cheney isn't out there screaming
shrub has been out there red faced, sweating, angry, yelling...you get the picture. Anything is possible though, hell maybe they hope shrub has a massive coronary.

16. and don't they have to
TELL US that he has this situation? I mean, isn't it a law or something? I mean we would have 2 duds in the WH! Each with a ticker that could NOT tick in a real emergency. Not fair! Not fair!

5. If its a medical device, he's been wearing it for a long time
There is a pic on the WH website showing him wearing whatever back in Dec. 2003

6. Sorta. It's a doseometer, for constant medication
Remember "Comfortably Numb" from Pink Floyd's 'The Wall'?

O.K.
Just a little pin prick
There'll be no more aaaaaaaah!
But you may feel a little sick
Can you stand up?
I do believe it's working, good
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go.

10. Quite feasible especially since Bush reportedly has bradycardia
This device sure looks like the right size and shape to match the pics of him both in suits and in the TShirt. I believe I read about Bush having a slower than normal heartbeat. This is usually not life threatening, but if accompanied by occasional irregular heartbeat there is a small risk of sudden heart failure and this could be a precaution. Perhaps someone else holds the battery pack (shown around the waist in the pic) and could immediately attach it to this device to administer the shock if he passed out suddenly. I am not sure exactly how this device works.

Quite a few people with this condition (like myself) lead normal active lives and are aware of the risk and eventually progress to needing this kind of device or an implanted one.

12. Well, if that's true, Bush and Cheney are quite the pair.
Bush had to not take his physical for a reason.

15. That would explain the bike tumbles and the pretzle wounds if he
is passing out.
