17. Actually, he might not have.
An IT friend of mine recently tried to explain why Bush was the 2nd coming. Realizing I'm having none of it, especially after I lost a very dear friend in Iraq, he just said, "well, I just like GWB better."

I looked at him and said nicely, "I'm sure you do. May your loss of insurance and life of poverty weigh sweetly on your shoulders." He got all righteous on me and I haven't heard from him since, but his is not the only case I know with ITers bound and determined to tie their livelihoods to this complete corporate-loving clown.

I say let 'em have it. They've chosen their bed. Let them lie in it. I know what this means to the rest of us, honestly; and I've tried... believe me! But I know when the kool-aid outclasses my powers of logic and reason. I can lead a horse to water, but I can't...well, you know the drill.

That said, I've converted 12 non-IT folks that I know of to vote for Kerry, so all is not lost. I just tend to prioritize, and the ITers lost out 'cuz they seem to like oblivion...

7. Imagine...people with BS degrees in Computer Science going to Community...
College for job training. Bush clearly has NO idea what's going on with outsourcing.

and 20+ years of experience and kids of their own going to college soon. Sure, community college is just the ticket for guys like my husband. What planet is Bush living on?

9. Not enough education
You hit exactly the point I feel that Kerry overlooked in response to Bush's push for education as a panacea for lost jobs. Kerry should have mentioned that there are people with Master's degrees working for minimum wage (e.g. at telemarketer jobs which are now being exported). I wonder if there is a political reason Kerry did not take that angle?

13. I was so offended when I heard that
Most of the people I know who have lost jobs are highly educated - as a matter of fact, that's one of the reasons they're having trouble finding jobs - they're over qualified for the available positions. We have had several people apply at the grocery store where I work - management is reluctant to hire them because they know they will want to find something better - as they should. However, if they fudge their resume, they have no references. It's a difficult position to be in and Bush's panacea is to send them to community college? What an insult!

Oh, yeah, if you're out of work, go to a community college and GIT SOME RE-TRAINING!

Stupid fucking idiot. So if you already have a BS or MS degree, you just need to go to IV Tech and get a "certificate" in welding or your CDL so you can drive a truck...

.. jobs are being outsourced. The 21st century is all about getting re-trainingin some trade to make less money and just survive.

Kerry should have jumped on that one.

As an IT professional myself, I was absolutely offended by * and pissed off at Kerry. Just shows how both are out of touch with middle class 'Muricans.
