The shits already starting in Colorado....another Florida?
The Secretary of State here in Colorado (a key state) is already doing some very suspicious things.

Secretary of State Donetta Davidson shocked county clerks Monday when she said voters who are victims of registration-drive problems may still vote on Nov. 2 - even if they aren't on the rolls.

An unprecedented number of voter drives has created hundreds of cases of potential fraud, but people will be allowed to vote with provisional ballots as long as they show ID, take an oath and, it is hoped, tell the truth, Davidson said.

It also appears she is attempting to intimidate people with felonies from voting, even though in Colorado felons can legally vote as long as they are not incarcerated.

Secretary of State Donetta Davidson on Monday said she will comb through three state databases and create a fourth to flag the more than 6,000 felons on Colorado voting rolls.

As she outlined her steps to hinder felons from voting, Davidson blamed large voter registration drives and a lack of fraud prosecutions on the large number of felons illegally on the rolls.

1. If they are allowed to vote, how are they illegally on the rolls?

2. She's hassling ex-cons but they can legally vote in CO?
Unbelievable. And pretty blatant about it.

This isn't terrible (unless, of course, it's organized fraud going on), and a lot of states have such a provisional ballot alternative. They get to vote, BUT their votes are "provisional" because they're supposed to be checked later against the voter registration rolls to make sure they're eligible, haven't voted twice, etc.

5. I saw this today in the RMN, and I'm still processing it...
WTF!!! There's a huge mess around the over 100,000(closer to 130,000) new voter registrations in the state, and now all you have to do is say an oath at the time you vote even if you're not formally registered. AND, the "felon" list is another wild card in this insane situation.

I'm currently on overload about all this. Especially since I moved in July from one district to another and that fairly simple change has apparently not been completed. Aargh......BTW, I'm doing canvassing for K/E campaign this weekend, with all this hanging over the electoral process like a f*ing storm cloud.

Ironically, I thought it would be fun to live in a swing state. And, I thought that huge numbers of people registering to vote was a good thing...I still do, but, apparently, it can be a bad thing for an outdated state government system.

Off to have another glass of w(h)ine...MKJ

6. Watch Nevada, I mean it!!
Today I got a absentee voter ballot in the mail from the Repuke Party trying to tell me it is the way to protect my vote. This from a state that got kudos in the primaries for using brand new Sequoias with printers for the first time ever in the nation. The set up has started. Rove is from Reno. He's like that chick in Florida.

8. Here's the problem
1. She works under a Republican governor who has already promised Bush the state.

2. There are 23,000 felons in Colorado, she's claiming 6000 of them are registered to vote. I highly suspect she has no way of knowing how many have registered in the past few months.

3. This is definitely an attempt to keep them from voting and to sway the election (I'm sure a good percentage would vote dem). The article states 'As she outlined her steps to hinder felons from voting'.

4. Bush and Kerry are just about tied in this state, the repukes are running scared.

I just got off the phone with a friend who has a 20 year old felony conviction and he told me he was going to vote but not now. He's afraid when he walks in to vote they will flag him as a felon and it will cause him a lot of embarrassment in the small town he lives in. So there's one Kerry vote lost, even though its perfectly legal for him to vote but now he feels pressure not to.
