Freepers in denial....
Cell phone users not counted in polls....

Freepers thinking that strictly cell phone users are too stoned to vote anyway!.....and that the number of cell only users are so low it will be insignificant....

Just keep thinking that....lol

1. "Don't touch that shit and it won't stink"
That's all I want to say about freepers.

2. Welcome to the 1950's!
Party lines, waiting lists for phone service, the fear of the phone ringing after 9PM, and egg timers controlling the duration long distance calls.

Must be nice to live in LaLaLand!

5. I still have a rotary dial phone in service in my house.
I just like hearing it ring when someone calls.... nice anachronistic sound that.
I am probably the last person in my family who still has no plans of getting a cell phone.

I don;t like the idea of being tracked.

10. I don't like the idea of being tracked either
However, if you have a social security number, a driver's license, a credit card, a utility account, an automobile registration or a library card, I'm afraid you're out of luck.

Big Brother is out there and he looks like a chimp.

12. Well - in 21st C Amerika no one is un observed
I don't really think about that too much. Like an older in law said ( who was a JP for 27 years in Wichata Falls Tx ) , if you are driving a plain vanilla car, you are not as likely to be pulled over by the cops...."

No its more like what Ambrose Bierce said about phones in the 1870s....

:" telephones do for the ear what telescopes do for the eye, but telescopes are not equipped with little bells to summon you to them "

If I want to be reached by phone, some one can call me at home or work - or leave messages.
And then...depending on who you are ,I may or may not answer.

I just see no value in carrying a phone around with me. Its more an issue of controlling access. I don't like talking on the phone that much anyway.

11. Well if you like that
Some cell phones have a selection of different sounds including a very convincing "ring." The first time I heard it I though I was hearing things. Good for a laugh.

14. 2 years ago, I actually had to
show my 14 year old daughter how to use a rotary dial !!

I felt like I was telling her to dial Emerson 34209.

Suppose we had to turn the crank in the side and tell the operator at " central" whom to connect us to.

It was too funny. I always want to keep one rotary on line. I also use wind up clocks, ( one is a US Maritime Commission clicl from 1943 ( 8-day movement )
I also have a Chelsea key wound Ship Strike clock tellilng me what watch it is.
It just rang 6 bells.

and I also use an old 1940s era Underwood Typewriter for correspondance.

But i remember seeing steam locomotives as a kid - albiet briefly.

But I am on a wirelesws network at the house and use DSL.

4. That's because freepers don't understand poor/working poor realities
The reality is that today, it is cheaper to have a cell phone than a land line. People who are working two jobs or who have to ride the bus to work frequently opt for the cell phone, because it gives them better access all the time.

I noticed this trend a few years ago in Detroit.

Not too many freepers have likely had to consider having only a cell phone.

6. Really in denial
Most people who rent with roommates don't have a landline phone as it avoids the whole issue of one person running up a billion dollar phone bill and sticking the rest of the roommates with it.

Most people who have recently graduated are still living at home and use their cellphones as their main phones or have seen no need to get a landline phone as they are used to using their cellphones they've been using all the time they were in college.

The FreeRepulsives are deep in denial or just basically clueless.

9. Count me
When I met my husband, he had a cable modem and a cell phone. When I moved in, I got a cell phone, too. We have no land line, we are not stoned, and we are both voting KERRY!

13. 23, Cell Phone AND Land line, BUT
I never answer my land line unless I know the number calling me. If I don't recognize it, my machine answers.

And, I know a lot of people who do this.

You can't be polled if the only phone you really answer is your cell.

15. I have been wondering about this---
and I wrote an e-mail to a statistics professor that I know asking him about this.

He told me that it is believed that about 30% of the 18-29 year olds are cell phone only. However, pollsters don't believe that this really impacts the poll results, because they correct for that (if it is a phone poll and not an internet poll). Pollsters do this by assuming that the 30% without landlines would vote similarly to the 70% that does have landlines--in other words that the same propotion of Democrats and Repbulicans have gone wireless. I do not know if this is a good assumption or not. I do know that this demographic should be heavily Democratic, but I assume that pollsters know this and factor that in.
