1. Probably Molly Ivins
I'm not wild about her writing style, which rambles a bit. But, i like her "no punches pulled" style.

I like Steven Chapman for a more liberterian POV. And i like Georgie Anne Geyer for opinion on foreign affairs.

There are lots i like, but if i had to name faves, these would be high on my list.

5. forget the content but I love reading Kathleen Parker's column
nothing so entertaining as a southern lady getting snippy about something. I'll admit that this could be an acquired taste.

10. You Mean Katleen Parker
of the Sentinel...

Respectfully, I can't see how she types with her knuckles dragging the floor.

At least Mariam Marquez (sp) is a little more balanced.

I think all the Sentinel columnists suck....

15. well if all flowers were roses it would be a pretty boring world
and I'm not interested in the balance, just the style. Its just an opinion piece fer Christ's sake, its fun reading.

17. That's Cool
but I don't even think Kathleen Parker is a particulary good polemicist.

6. Jimmy Breslin
He is by far the best op-ed columnist on the planet right now.

Followed closely by Maureen Dowd, Paul Krugman, Nikolas Kristoff and Bob Herbert.

12. Well, I'm in New York
And I read Newsday and the Times religously every day.

Newsday has some good columnists too...Breslin, EJ Dionne, Sheryl McCarthy, Marie Cocco, ect.

But nobody beats the Times for great columnists. Even the one's I disagree with, like Thomas Friedman and William Safire, I find fun to read.

13. I'm In Orlando
and I get The NYT delivered daily...

The old gray lady still gets it done... Even their sports page is top shelf but being a Floridian I don't like the Jets,Giants, and Knicks.

I still like the Mets cuz I was born in Forest Hills.

14. I Like Breslin
but he has made some boneheaded comments about women and Asians.

See, liberals have to police their own or we will be as hypocritical as the Freepers....

16. RON BROWNSTEIN OF LA TIMES
HE IS HONEST. HE IS SMART.

FOREIGN AFFAIRS--JIM MANN OF LA TIMES IS MARVELOUS. HE HAS BEEN THERE AND DONE IT.

ROBERT FISK OF THE INDEPENDENT IS WALTER CRONKITE OF EUROPE.

18. Krugman and Friedman...
...although Friedmn's only really good when he's dissing Bush. I still view "I know Cheney thinks conservation is for sissies. Real men send B-52s" as his most brilliant quote, far more than what he wrote in support of the invasion.

21. Online I love Bernard Weiner, Ted Rall, and

Maureen Farrell.

Of the mainstream guys, I like Robert Scheer,
Paul Krugman, E.J. Dionne, and Molly Ivins.

My favorite has got to be "wink wink" Will
Pitt.

23. Robert Scheer or Molly Ivins
Brownstein lost me when he repeatedly went out of his way to convince everyone not to attack Junior's character because "his numbers were too high". Boy, if there's ever a reason TO attack someone's character, that'd be the one.

(It's a personal bugaboo for me; I think that hammering his "personality" and habitual lies is necessary for any successful campaign, otherwise anything can just be dismissed as bad advice.)

As for Scheer, I just love him; sometimes he gets a little off-message, but he's got guts and he's muy entertaining. For pure silliness, ya gotta love Molly, though...
