Tim Chavez (local columnist)has finally convinced me to vote Republican. He and the other right wing pundits have shown me that it is easier to group all people different from me into one category; people to be afraid of. Without having to delve into deeper subjects such as: what are the policies my government is following that makes these people a threat to me or how can I differentiate between the people who wish me harm and those who don’t, I can devote more of my time to making boatloads of money without concern for the effects my actions may have on the environment or other people, and fighting for greater tax cuts so that I can keep more of my wealth. After all I work hard for my money, I should not be expected to give it away to lazy people who don’t work as hard. In fact I can just turn off all of my higher level thinking skills and believe everything the Bush administration tells me. After all they are my duly elected leaders, if we ignore the Florida fiasco, and they only have my best money making interests at heart. Who cares if they occasionally mislead us into a war where over a thousand of our young people have been killed? War is a great opportunity to make money and set the world straight on just who is the world’s sole super-power. So, I am voting for Bush this year. I am disregarding the fact that it was his inept bungling that allowed 19 terrorists to attack the World Trade Center and the pentagon because he told me that only under his administration would I be safe. Thanks to Bush and Cheney and Rush and Hannity and O’Reilly I now see the light. I am afraid of other people and soon, like the rest of the GOP that fear will turn into a hatred of them. The hatred will allow me to back this administration on whatever military expeditions they want to initiate in the next four years. I will just sit back and make money and fight for more tax cuts.
