Thanks to an investigation by the Iraqi Ministry of Health, we now know that the U.S. military not only kills more civilians than rebels; it also kills more civilians than the rebels do.

According to the report, which was the banner story in Friday's Philadelphia Inquirer, but didn't make page one of the New York Times, twice as many Iraqis, most of them civilians, are dying as a result of U.S. military operations and Iraqi police as are being killed by insurgents.

Looking at the period from last April 5 September 19, the ministry identified 3487 Iraqis killed and 13,720 injured. Of the dead, 328, or nearly one in ten, were children under the age of 12.

1. I posted this story the other day...
...and it didn't get much of a response. I guess many Americans have been desensitized to death and destruction...since they have a daily diet of it. Killing children seems to be okay with too many...as long as they're not American children.

2. amen, lonely voice in the wilderness....
i read your post the other day, and it's worth repeating. i've posted several in the last week about the mass murder of innocents, but those posts go nowhere. i just want to stick in the occasional
reminder.

3. I saw that story on Fox news the other day
oh wait.... that was a dream. A dream in which the American people were told about reality and not told, "we are making progress". We are not pessimistic, we are realists. Sometimes we need to realize our mistakes and change course.

4. Mopaul and Q,
Please don't assume that just because we don't respond we aren't paying attention. I am. And I appreciate this being brought up on a daily basis here at DU. I'm heartbroken and outraged by this new atrocity done in our name -- and for the energy needs of what is mostly a TRIVIAL SOCIETY.

Have either of you seen "The End of Suburbia" yet? I highly recommend it. In some ways it is far more powerful that Uncovered, Outfoxed, Hijacking Catastrophy et al. because it lays it clearly on the line about what this is all about -- what it has always been all about. The good thing about the movie is that it is not overtly political. It DOES mention the PNAC and explains their "war that will not end in our lifetime." If you can't afford to purchase a copy, private me.
