Any one watching Chimpy on TV right now?
He doing a speech in Janesville WI. He's flogging the usual 'Kerry voted against armor for our troops.' Then he whined about how mean old John Kerry insulted the wonderful new Iraqi PM and how unsupportive that was of him. He's his usual bumbling incompetent ass of a self. Now it's a commercial so I'm just waiting for the newcasters to gush about how great he did.

2. I'm sick and tired of George W. acting like war is funny!
It's time for him to grow up and take this fragile planet seriously!

5. I saw part of it
It was a running screed of mangled words, halting mental lapses and stammering. In other words, a typical Bush speech, though he seemed particularly bad today.

As for the content, Bubble Boy again went out of his way to purposely mischaracterize Kerry's statements on Iraq and Allawi (sp). It's become so clear that his handlers have told him that the only way to win the election is to lie is friggin Ass off.

6. Mass graves
Well, I usually don't (can't) listen to him but since I didn't want to stop vacuuming to turn him off I just let him roll over me. But when he mentioned the mass graves, it did remind me of something that has bothered me for a long time. I understand that Islam requires(?--or maybe this is cultural and not religious) burial with 24 hours(?)or perhaps it is the same day. So we have mass graves with thousands or tens of thousands of corpses (yes?). Wouldn't that be consistent with Iranian-Iraqi war dead? I mean you could use a mass grave for executions or people who died during torture, but you'd have to bury a few and then cover them up and then bury a few (dozens?) more unless you had a sort of Nazi-style conveyor belt system going. I mean if you just left the bodies exposed they would attract animals and pose a health risk to your soldiers/police. I seem to remember that the mass graves were more many bodies buried altogether. I expect forensic experts could discover the circumstances under which these poor souls met their deaths and how they were buried. But I don't expect that learning the exact circumstances surrounding the mass graves something Bush is particularly interested in.

Please don't misunderstand--I do believe Saddam was a brutal dictator and responsible for many, many deaths. I'm just not sure that the scale of his crimes is exactly how they have been and are being portrayed. I believe that Bush is using "mass graves" like he does "rape rooms" (rooms dedicated to raping women as opposed to rooms where rapes occurred)--for its inflammatory value. I mean if Saddam were no more of a bloody tyrant than 10-20 other tyrants currently extant then that undercuts yet again the rationale for this war.

7. i so agree with you
did you know blair was confronted and admitted to the exageration of these mass graves, and that the age was consistent with gulf war killings. i really would like to see and hear saddam's version of history. all we have here in the land of the "free" is propaganda

8. "Mass graves" is a catch phrase...
And any that might exist might, indeed, date from the Iran/Iraq war. Or the first Gulf War. I've never seen any real investigation into the subject.

In fact, I'm sure there are now some new mass graves.

9. I think he does it for brainwashing purposes.
When people hear something really psychologically jolting, it opens a pathway into a primal part of the brain and other thoughts (like how wonderful Bush's plans are) can be more deeply implanted.
