A warning about internet bank fraud. Do you ever get emails from your bank
saying there may be a problem with your account and you need to verify things? Just hit the link provided.

I get a lot of these. Some from banks I actually have accounts with. They are all frauds. I just got one from Sun Trust, which I don't even have an account. I went to the web site and put in fake information and they advised me my account was updated and all is well.

Spread the word to everyone you know to never use links emailed to you to get into any of your financial accounts. I've also had these letters from Ebay and Paypal. You would think is would be easy to track these people down.

1. I got a letter from "E-bay"
It looked funny so I forwarded it to the real E-bay. They told me not to give out the info (I hadn't) & said they'd go after the mailer. Although I'm sure those guys cover their tracks pretty well.

5. I am from Nigeria and I have thirty five million dollars which I need
to get into the US somehow. If you would let me put it into your bank account for a week until I can open another account to transfer it to I will give you half. Just think what you could do with seventeen million dollars which you could have tomorrow. Just give me your account number and social security number so I can make the deposit immediately. Oh and we don't need to inform the government of this transaction. It will just be between you and I.

3. I got one of those a week ago
From a bank I don't do business with. Said that updating my information was mandatory and that if I did not comply, my account would be temporarily suspended.

I knew of these scams, so I reported it to my service provider and to the bank the scammer was impersonating.

This scam was quite sophisticated -- the English was quite "legalize" but contained two grammar errors -- usually they are laughably fake.

4. I'm always amazed that people would fall for this
I guess people are so conditioned to simply answer questions that they do it without thinking. Someone posted yesterday about a call they got from someone who wanted her to look out her window and tell them if the neighbor was home! (probably a repo company) She didn't but a lot of people would without thinking.

You should never give out any info whatsoever unless you know exactly who you're dealing with. If you get something in the e-mail from a bank, call the bank. From a web site, close the e-mail and go to the web site and check your account status (if you even have an account).

No reputable business does business this way.

6. But in the background????
The question is what is this program/website doing in the background?

I get these from U.S. Bank all the time, I don't have an account with them, but since it seems strange that a bank would send email rather than a letter with questions/concerns about my account, I just send them to the junk folder.

Even if I get one from my bank, which I have not, I will never click the link, but instead call my bank and inquire.
