Know your BFEE: Pat Robertson Incoporated a Gold Mine with a Terrorist
Pat "Pass The Loot" Robertson is more than just your average TV preacher. Like the enterprising fellow in the parable of the king and the 10 coins, this guy's put his collection basket to good use. Check out how in this old story that never made it to TBN Nutwork:

Pat Robertson and His Business Buddies

By Colbert I. King
Saturday, November 10, 2001; Page A27

Joseph Mathews is Pat Robertson's point man in a Liberian mining venture called Freedom Gold Limited. Mathews doesn't much care for what has appeared in this column about his boss's business dealings in Liberia, so he's trying to put a little distance between the televangelist and that West African nation's strongman, Charles Taylor.

SNIP...

This much is known, however, based primarily on information obtained from Freedom Gold Limited. Pat Robertson did learn about the gold mining investment opportunity from a visiting Liberian delegation. Robertson did subsequently create the for-profit Freedom Gold Limited in the Cayman Islands in December 1998 in which he was listed as the president and the company's sole director. He did conclude a mining agreement signed personally by him, Charles Taylor and key members of Taylor's cabinet on May 18, 1999. And the deal does give the Taylor regime a cut of the action.

Now why is a freedom-loving, God-fearing man such as Pat Robertson signing on the dotted line with Taylor, a U.S. prison escapee, Libyan terrorist training camp graduate, human rights violator, and pillager of his own country and his neighbor, Sierra Leone?

What's there to like about Charles Taylor?

He was once an ally of the equally repulsive Samuel Doe, the semi-literate master sergeant who led a bloody coup in April 1980 against Liberian President William Tolbert. The late Tolbert ended up dead and disemboweled in the executive mansion -- a fate shared 10 years later by election-rigger par excellence Doe who, while wearing the mantle of president, was tortured, mutilated and done in by rebels.

1. Charles Taylor wasn't even Robertson's first business partner
who was a brutal dictator, that funded al Qaeda terrorists. Google - Mobutu and Operation Blessing for more on Mr. Robertson's business deals and how he has supported terrorism since back in the days of Iran Contra.

ZAIRE: MOBUTU AND PAT ROBERTSON

BY ANDREW PURVIS/KINSHASA

What do televangelist Pat Robertson and a ruthless dictator have in common?

Diamonds, for one thing

TIME Domestic
February 27, 1994 Volume 145, No. 9

Who would expect to find diamonds on the souls of evangelical American missionaries in Zaire? Situated in the bull's-eye of Africa, Zaire has 43 million citizens scratching out a living on roughly $500 a year apiece. Zaire's cruel, old-style dictator, Mobutu Sese Seko, however, does not subsist on $500 a year - he has many millions stashed away, and right now he makes a decent income off his country's roughly $300 million-a-year diamond trade. Now, with Mobutu's permission, Zaire's diamond business has a new entrant - Pat Robertson, the American televangelist and ex-presidential candidate.

Backed by the CIA, army general Joseph-Desire Mobutu took over the Republic of the Congo in 1965 and later called himself Mobutu Sese Seko. In 1971 he renamed the country Zaire. Throughout his rule, Mobutu has dealt brutally with opponents, civilian and military. His country's mineral wealth and location kept Mobutu valuable to Western interests for years, but when the threat of communist expansion disappeared, his worth diminished. By 1993 his horrific human-rights record and his refusal to yield the throne had led to an economic squeeze of Zaire by three major trading partners - the U.S., France and Belgium. Largesse from lenient banks dried up. Desperately casting a net for new friends, Mobutu found Robertson. Makau Mutua, projects director of the Human Rights Program at the Harvard Law School, says that currently "Robertson is Mobutu's biggest American catch."

The association of dictator and preacher began with a Robertson relief group, Operation Blessing, a branch of which has botched a corn-cultivation project on a 50,000-acre farm outside the capital, Kinshasa. Last year during the Rwandan refugee crisis, Operation Blessing expanded its humanitarian efforts to Goma but was criticized for spending too much money on transportation, pulling its workers out too soon and proselytizing. "They were laying on hands," an American aid worker recalls, "speaking in tongues and holding services while people were dying all around." Many relief agencies are notorious for mismanagement and backbiting, but even considering that, Operation Blessing drew a considerable volume of negative reviews from fellow Samaritans.

Another Robertson organization working in Zaire is the African Development Co. Around the world, Robertson has substantial business interests (in the U.S. he controls TV's Family Channel, the Ice Capades and KaloVita, a venture selling vitamins and skin creams from the Holy Land), and ADC is a private enterprise formed to look into investments in mining, lumber, agriculture, transportation and power generation, with an eye to plowing the profits back into humanitarian efforts. A nascent diamond-mining operation in Zaire is a project of the ADC. Located on a river southeast of the boomtown of Tshikapa in the heart of Zaire's diamond country, the project uses state-of-the-art dredges and diving equipment. Robertson is also exploring gold interests on the upper Zaire, or Congo, River, and assessing the hardwood logging potential of four great swaths of rain forest.

2. George W. Bush becomes head of American Dominionist Church/State
"Rule the world for God. Give the impression that you are there to work for the party, not push an ideology.

"Hide your strength. Don’t flaunt your Christianity.

"Christians need to take leadership positions. Party officers control political parties and so it is very important that mature Christians have a majority of leadership positions whenever possible, God willing."<12>

Dominionists have gained extensive control of the Republican Party and the apparatus of government throughout the United States; they continue to operate secretly. Their agenda to undermine all government social programs that assist the poor, the sick, and the elderly is ingeniously disguised under false labels that confuse voters. Nevertheless, as we shall see, Dominionism maintains the necessity of laissez-faire economics, requiring that people "look to God and not to government for help."<13>

It is estimated that thirty-five million Americans who call themselves Christian, adhere to Dominionism in the United States, but most of these people appear to be ignorant of the heretical nature of their beliefs and the seditious nature of their political goals. So successfully have the televangelists and churches inculcated the idea of the existence of an outside "enemy," which is attacking Christianity, that millions of people have perceived themselves rightfully overthrowing an imaginary evil anti-Christian conspiratorial secular society.

When one examines the progress of its agenda, one sees that Dominionism has met its time table: the complete takeover of the American government was predicted to occur by 2004.<14> Unless the American people reject the GOP’s control of the government, Americans may find themselves living in a theocracy that has already spelled out its intentions to change every aspect of American life including its cultural life, its Constitution and its laws.

Born in Christian Reconstructionism, which was founded by the late R. J. Rushdoony, the framers of the new cult included Rushdoony, his son-in-law Gary North, Pat Robertson, Herb Titus, the former Dean of Robertson’s Regent University School of Public Policy (formerly CBN University), Charles Colson, Robertson’s political strategist, Tim LaHaye, Gary Bauer, the late Francis Schaeffer, and Paul Crouch, the founder of TBN, the world’s largest television network, plus a virtual army of likeminded television and radio evangelists and news talk show hosts.

5. Um. Didn't Jesus say: "God is Love"?
But if we're going to go Old Testament, isn't it against the Ten Commandments to lie, cheat and steal (SOP of the BFEE)?

Whose Voting Machines

by Doug Pibel

Two of the corporations that provide nearly all of the voting machines in the United States—ES&S and Diebold—are controlled by Republicans with strong ties to the Bush administration. One company is also linked to a far-right fundamentalist Christian movement.

In a recent mailing to Republican donors, Walden O’Dell, CEO of Diebold Inc., one of three companies certified to sell electronic voting equipment to the state of Ohio, stated his commitment “to helping Ohio deliver its electoral votes to the president next year.”

All of the $195,000 Diebold has given in political contributions since 2000 went to the Republican Party or Republican candidates, as has all of the over $240,000 that the company’s directors and chief officers have donated, according to OpenSecrets.org.

Diebold and ES&S are heavily interconnected. Brothers Todd and Bob Urosevich founded American Information Services (AIS), which became ES&S when AIS merged with Business Records Corporation (BRC). Todd works at ES&S as vice president, while Bob is now president of Diebold. ES&S claims that it counted 56 percent of U.S. votes in the last four presidential elections.

AIS was initially funded by Howard Ahmanson. Ahmanson is a member of the Council for National Policy, a “steering group” linked to the Bush administration, and has holdings in ES&S. Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, former CEO of AIS, had significant AIS holdings when the company counted the votes for his surprise election victory in 1996. Hagel has been scrutinized by the Senate Ethics Committee over his investments in the McCarthy Group. ES&S, which counted the votes when Hagel was re-elected in 2002, is a subsidiary of the McCarthy Group, according to The Hill.

6. Everybody loves Pat Robertson -- especially the North Korean Army.
The unctuous TV preacher Marion “Pat” Robertson once was a US Marine officer when he got the call that maybe his life was too important to risk on the battlefield. Sounds familiar to a certain "first family" we know and don't admire.

Anyway, the greasy turd Pat Robertson was a newly minted 2nd Lieutenant leading a platoon of US Marines to the fighting in Korea in 1951 when he decided to call his daddy, then a very, very conservative and Democratic Senator from Virginia, to get him pulled off his troop transport ASAFP.

Robertson told the other officers he would be saying “Sayonara!” when the ship pulled into Yokohama, its final stop before heading toward Korea. The other officers thought he was joking, but when the ship shoved off, there was Pat (and another 2nd lieutenant) on the dock, waving buh-bye.

Most of the officers and Marines went on to get wounded and killed in some of the most fierce action of the Korean War. Not Pat, though.

Odd. Robertson claimed, when he ran for presidunt in 1988, he was a "combat Marine." PTL, at least a couple remember the Truth.

The story was repeated in 1988 when Robertson ran for president as a “Combat Veteran.” The source of the story was Pete McCloskey (R-Calif.), one of the surviving USMC officers who was on the transport.

Here's a great resource on the subject:

THE LIQUOR OFFICER

Or PAT ROBERTSON GOES TO WAR

EXCERPT...

Robertson had sailed for Korea in January, 1951, as a new young Second Lieutenant fresh out of Quantico's 11 week basic platoon leader training course. With him was his friend and classmate from Washington and Lee, Ed Gaines. The First Marine Division had taken fearful casualties at the Chosin Reservoir in December when the Chinese had entered this war with a vengeance; new second lieutenants were needed badly and the rumored life expectancy of platoon leaders in combat was only six minutes. Robertson was one of 71 officers and 1900 enlisted men in the Fifth Replacement Draft aboard the U.S.S. General J. C. Breckenridge. The full draft was needed to bring the Divisions' three rifle regiments up to strength for General MacArthur's planned February counter-attack against the Chinese. On the last day before leaving for Korea, however, Robertson and Gaines had been pulled off the ship in Kobe, Japan, with four others whose names had the misfortune to be listed next to Gaines on the roster of lieutenants assigned to the 7th Regiment. The reason: ostensibly to train young Marines coming out of the hospitals after the Chosin Reservoir battle.

Both the First Marine Division personnel office and those officers aboard the Breckenridge who had had combat duty were offended. Captain Harry Steinmeyer, a decorated veteran of Guadalcanal wrote on February 14, 1951:

"Happy Valentines: Here's one I have to tell you. Lt. Gaines & a Lt. Robinson (Whose Father is Senator from Va) were taken off in Japan. In short there were 80 men and 8 2nd Lts pulled on the pretense of training men who came from Korea to go back there. Gaines slipped 2 days before we got to Japan and said he & the other one were going to be pulled off there. It's really rotten politics. I'd sure like to write Winchell on it. See what Walter & Daddy say about that. At least I can live with my conscience. Well so much for that"

First Lieutenant David Hartstein, the Draft's adjutant, wrote his wife the same day:

"Hi There Valentine: Oh yes, there is one thing I wanted to tell you about. When we were in Kobe yesterday a Col. came aboard to choose several officers to retrain casualties that were getting ready to 90 back to Korea. He chose 6 second Lts. none of whom have ever had any combat. Its interesting to note that two of them had said they wouldn't have to go to Korea. One was the Robertson that General Sheppard wanted to see and I'm sure that his father being the Senator from Virginia had nothing to do with it and the other was a kid named Gaines whose father is president of Washington and Lee university. it is interesting though isn't it. See that's what you get when you choose the wrong parents. Incidentally they are both very nice guys but no more anxious to go than the rest of us."

What had caused this extraordinary salvation? As the trial date of March 8, 1988 approached, Robertson found himself in an increasing dilemma. He had shocked the Republicans by strong second place finishes, in Iowa., South Dakota and Minnesota; he had nearly won Michigan, and expected to win South Carolina on Saturday, March 5. March 8, "Super Tuesday" with its 22 separate primaries, was expected to provide perhaps even a majority of delegates in the bible belt states where from whence came Robertson's strongest support. His lawsuit had suppressed any media comment on his alleged "liquor officer" background.

11. Tim Russert pointed out that George W. was now “indebted to Pat Robertson

Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen asserted that “Bush embraces the far-right fringe.” From the racists who prohibit interracial dating at Bob Jones University to the moronic Confederate flag wavers, from Rush Limbaugh to Pat Robertson, and from the most extreme elements of the right-to-life movement to the Moonies, the Bush family network prevailed. NBC’s Tim Russert pointed out that George W. was now “indebted to Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell” and the Christian right.

Dutifully, the Washington Times - a paper owned by self-proclaimed messiah and cult leader Reverend Sun Myung Moon - ran a headline stating, “Bush scoffs at assertion he moved too far right.” The bizarre and almost unbelievable relationship between the Bush family and the 80-year-old Moon is the dirty little secret of George W.’s campaign for President.

To understand the role the Moonies play in U.S. politics, one must start with Ryoichi Sasakawa, identified in a 1992 PBS Frontline investigative report as a key money source for Reverend Moon’s far-flung world empire. In the 1930s, Sasakawa was one of Japan’s leading fascists. He organized a private army of 1,500 men equipped with 20 warplanes. His men dressed in black shirts to emulate Mussolini. Sasakawa was an “uncondemned Class A war criminal” suddenly freed with another accused war criminal - Yoshio Kodama, a leading figure in Japan’s organized crime syndicate Yakuza - in 1948

ASHCROFT: MAKING A LIST OF "DISSENTERS"
January 31, 2002
by:
S.R. Shearer

"In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."

- George Orwell

(Much of the material for this article was taken from Nat Hentoff's syndicated column of Wednesday, January 16, 2002 which appeared in the Village Voice in New York City)

INTRODUCTION
Nat Henthoff of the Village Voice has been tracking the effect of the USA Patriot Act on civil liberties in the United States, and has been utterly dismayed by what he has found, i.e., that it has been having a very profound and chilling impact on the free exercise of civil liberties in the country. According to Hentoff, there is a plethora of examples throughout the country to this effect. Hentoff cites a number of them in a column entitled "Making a List of Dissenters." Hentoff says that these particular examples were supplied to him by a friend over at the Christian Science Monitor, Kris Axtman.

SNIP…

IT'S A VERY FRIGHTENING TREND
Barry Steinhardt, associate director of the American Civil Liberties Union in Washington D.C., reacting to all this, says, "It's a very frightening trend: that people who are doing nothing more than expressing the very freedoms that we are supposed to be fighting to preserve, find themselves with the FBI at their door."

SNIP…

INTIMIDATION IN THE
SERVICE OF THE ELITES
That's what all this is about! - AND NOTHING ACCOMPLISHES THIS MORE COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY THAN FOR PEOPLE TO RECEIVE A KNOCK ON THE DOOR FROM THE FBI AND / OR THE SECRET SERVICE.
Shades of the Gestapo and Nazi Germany! This kind of intimidation will certainly put a damper on dissent, that's for sure! - unless one actually believes that there are real, live Islamic fundamentalists lurking in the hallways of the Durham Technical Community College; or swimming laps at the gym Barry Reingold frequents in San Francisco; or hiding among the displays of art at Donna Huanca's Art Car Museum in Houston, Texas.

And when it comes to a knock on one's door in the middle of the night from the FBI - word gets around fast, that's for sure! Say something a little bit "off color" with regard to America's ruling elites, and YOU too can expect a knock on YOUR door. Again, that's what it's all about!

COINTELPRO ALL OVER AGAIN
Hentoff says that what Mr. Ashcroft and his minions at the Justice Department are really up to is reintroducing the FBI's infamous COINTELPRO operation that, from 1957 to 1971, monitored a wide range of RELIGIOUS and political antiwar and civil rights organizations, helped to spread "disinformation" about them, infiltrated them, and even "manufactured" false evidence in CRIMINAL cases against them and used it to falsely imprison many of their leaders. In 1975, the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Activities (i.e., the so-called "Church Committee") denounced COINTELPRO's violations of First Amendment rights. And - in an unheard of "turn of events" insofar as CIA truthtelling is concerned - the CIA Chief at the time, Ambassador Colby, in what appears to have been a paroxysm of genuine (though belated) conscience, actually cooperated with the Church Committee in uncovering the "secrets of the lodge" and unveiling what the CIA had been really up to during the Civil Rights Crusade and anti-war demonstrations of the 1960s and early 1970s.

THE STRANGE CASE OF AMBASSADOR COLBY
Operatives at the CIA never forgave Colby for cooperating with the Church Committee, and there is evidence that Colby was assassinated by "hit men" from the agency some several years ago as a result: Colby, a world-class swimmer, was said to have drowned in a strange, "freak" accident near his home while canoeing alone on the Chesapeake Bay. His canoe was found floating upside down not more than 25 feet from the shore; his body was nowhere to be found.

10. The unctuous turd likes guns, too.
Here's something with a lot of names cached on GOOGLE. Perhaps there's some signal amidst all this BFEE-gangster noise...

Bush, `Lords of Loudoun' caught pushing drugs, genocide

by Jeffrey Steinberg

Just as George Bush and Oliver North were celebrating a recent ``apology'' by the editor-in-chief of the {San Jose Mercury News,} over last August's ``Dark Alliance'' story linking the U.S. government-backed Nicaraguan Contras to the launching of the crack cocaine epidemic in Los Angeles, dramatic new evidence has surfaced, not only confirming the direct role of the former vice president and President in the drug trafficking. The evidence further links Bush to a network of Virginia Hunt Country barons, centered in Loudoun County, Virginia, who were in on the ground floor of the operations that have led to the recent years' mass genocide in the Great Lakes region of Africa.

Through his involvement with the Canada-based Barrick Gold Corp., Bush has already been deeply implicated in the genocide in Zaire, which has been conducted on behalf of the rapacious London strategic raw material cartels, whose stated policy is to ``de-Africanize'' the Great Lakes region, while grabbing up the raw materials wealth of the African continent.

Among the ``Lords of Loudoun'' linked to Bush in the drugs and genocide scandals, are Sir Paul Mellon, Arthur Arundel, Magalen Ohrstrom Bryant, her step-son, Herbert Bryant, and their man on Capitol Hill, Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.). Most of these individuals, in addition to being intimates of the Bush clan, are on similarly close terms with the current members of the House of Windsor, including Sir Paul Mellon's occasional house guest, Queen Elizabeth II. A real-life Elmer Gantry, Rev. ``Diamond'' Pat Robertson, is yet another Bush-tamed creature who has gleefully jumped into the Africa raw materials grab, and the resulting genocide.

SNIP...

New Bush ties to guns-for-drugs revealed

The new revelations emerge from material published in the May 23-29 issue of the {Los Angeles Weekly}, in an article by investigative reporter Nick Schou. Relying on previously unavailable documents and eyewitness accounts, Shou detailed the role of former Laguna Beach, California police officer Ronald Lister in the Norwin Meneses, Danilo Blandon, and ``Freeway'' Ricky Ross cocaine-trafficking organization, and showed that Lister was, at the same time, involved in supplying arms to the Contras, through clandestine arms manufacturing plants in El Salvador. While he was in the center of a Contra cocaine-for-arms pipeline that stretched from southern California to Central America, Lister was reporting to former Navy SEAL David Scott Weekly, according to his own testimony to Los Angeles County sheriffs, who raided his home in 1986 as part of a crackdown on the Ross-Blandon crack cocaine distribution ring.

Weekly, in turn, was working for Tom Harvey, {in the office of Vice President Bush.} Former Vietnam War hero Col. Bo Gritz, who worked closely with Weekly and Harvey at this time, described Harvey as Bush's ``Ollie North look-alike.''

The tying of Harvey to the West Coast cocaine- and gun-smuggling ring is the crucial new piece of ``closure'' provided by the Schou story. At the same time that he was part of the Bush liaison team to the Contra crew on the West Coast, via Weekly, Harvey was functioning as one of the Bush office liaisons to the Loudoun County oligarchical families. To this day, in fact, Harvey is on the payroll of the Ohrstrom Bryant family, through an Annandale, Virginia outfit called Global Environmental Technology Foundation.
