Leslie Blitzer's former job
This is old news, apparently, but I didn't know about this until today.

CNN main anchor Leslie Blitzer used to work for AIPAC, the American-Israeli Political Action Committee, which is presently implicated in the Pentagon mole scandal (the one that Ashcroft squashed a few days ago, when arrests were imminent).

"Before, moving to The Jerusalem Post he worked for AIPAC where he wrote for their propaganda sheet, The Near East Report."
http://www.nybooks.com/articles/3751
(This article, from way back in 1990, has other tidbits of interest which perhaps shed light on the present disappeared scandal.)

Interesting.

Of course, the fact that he worked for the most prominent Israel lobbying group has NO significance for how the mole story has (not) been reported on CNN, or the spin that "news you can trust" CNN takes on issues of terrorism, Israel and the US. Sure. :eyes:

1. I am not defending the jounalism of Blitzer
but none of the other networks except CBS reported the mole story to any degree

Those decisions are not made by Blitzer, but his boses

7. Yes, and no
I monitor broadcast news, and yes, I noticed that they gave a big yawn to the mole story, as you mention.

CBS seems to be the only one who finds it noteworthy. It's only one of the most significent stories of the year, with massive implications about how this administration conducts business.

Not sure if I agree that Blitzer is merely a haircut sock puppet. All of the anchors have a say in what news is presented, and how it is presented. Either their bossess agree with them, or don't. CNN obviously thinks Leslie is doing an excellent job. On the other hand, I suspect that ABC has successfully intimidated Peter Jennings, who has been a different guy the last 3 months than he has ever been. Jennings does in fact have a lot of knowledge about the middle east, but he sure is keeping it all to himself these days, and I would not argue that he has recently become a haircut sock puppet, but hey, it's his choice, and I don't feel sorry for him.

Dan Rather is in the hot seat now. The Bushistas are trying to "necklace" him. Don't go quietly, Dan.

Leslie's connections to Israeli advocacy groups, IMHO, certainly helps to explain how CNN has reported the war on terra, and crafted the notion that the interests of America and Israel are 100% one and the same.

2. CNN
constantly misspells their slogan as "The most trusted name in news" instead of the accurate "The mistrusted name in news".

3. Correct CNN - On Stahl Bias in this Case!!!
Edited on Mon Sep-13-04 12:11 PM by autorank
I just sent the following to CNN at the Correct CNN mailbox (where I send all my complaints):

http://www.cnn.com/feedback/forms/form6a.html?2

I revised this to Leslie "Blitzer." Thought you guys were just being clever (which you are). Sorry.

"I understand that Leslie Blitzer was at one time an employee of AIPAC. Is this so? If it is, you must immediately announce this to show conflict of interest in the reporting of the AIPAC-Pentagon-Israeli spy story. Your credibility will reach lows even more notable than your viewership if you fail to do so. Please, do the right thing."

4. Wow ... that I didnt know ....
I rail against the J Post here as a mouthpiece for the PNAC ....

So: Leslie IS PNAC ...... that explains his obvious bias ...

I have recently learned that Bill Schneider, the CNN 'polls' fella is associated with the AEI, who of course is the Big Brother of the PNAC, being its primary source of personnel as well as it's landlord ...

CNN IS the PNAC ... apparently .....

Now wonder ...

6. Y'all can keep this "Leslie" thing up if you want to.
Maybe there's some humor there that I just don't see?
At the Gridiron dinner (I think it was) Al Franken made a JOKE, that Wolf's real name was Leslie. I was a joke. Leslie is not his name.
